Reviewed 27 October 2011

The hotel is nice and clean. Staff is very helpful..we(hubby and me) stayed there for about three days...

Hotel is situated at the Centre of the Historical city of Bruges..so it is pretty convinient...very close to the grand Belfort tower..

It is a few minutes walk(about ten minutes with luggage)..from the station...

overall hassle free and comfortable stay...

Stayed one night 4th Oct for our wedding anniversary visit to Bruge .
Booked through the NH website which showed Smoking rooms available , ideal for us !
Arrived and checked in , all fine till we got to our room , ok it was clean & tidy , decent size and all the usual , tea/coffee machine , tv, mini bar etc ........ but No Ashtrays ! called reception about this and was informed the hotel was completley Non Smoking , it says smoking rooms available on your website , "not my problem " was the reply ! not good enough for a so called **** hotel !
We do not mind staying in no smoking hotels but always seek out the smoking rooms if available so this was an annoying start to our visit !
Did not eat in the hotel as prices were very expensive even by Bruge`s standards and € 21 for breakfast was a joke !
The rest of our stay in Bruge was , as usual , split between the shops , bars and walking around the many fine sights , well walking for me but riding for `er indoors , on her mobility scooter ! think i may get one for myself !! lol
In conclusion , NH was ok , beds & room satisfactory , menu expensive and mis-information on the booking site , staff attitude on the one occasion we asked ? lacksadasical & rude !
As the title says " Could have been so much more " !

Room Tip: Smoking Rooms NOT available and following email to NH Group now removed from website page !

Stayed at this hotel for five nights September/October and found it to be of a good standard. The rooms are big and there was no problem with noise even though it's quite close to a big square and a busy bus station. The hotel has a good ice machine located on Floor 1 and the staff were quite helpful.

The location is excellent with all the main parts of the city within walking distance. The hotle is also within walking distance of the train station.

This is a nice hotel to stay in for a short trip. The location is excellent - it is very near to the train station, restaurants, and main attractions. The room was clean and the staff were friendly. I think if the rooms were a bit brighter, they might feel more clean than they do, but I must emphasise that they are clean. The one thing I would have liked to be more modern in the room is the bathroom, which felt a bit old even though it too was clean. All in all, for a short stay I would recommend it - great location, clean, and good value for money.

NH Brugge seemed a great change after having stayed at a lower quality hotel in Amsterdam; we were even upgraded on arrival. Our room was located down a twisty-turny hallway on the ground floor, which made us feel like the hotel had some nice character, and the room itself was spacious and had comfortable beds. It's also just a short walk from the train station and into the centre, so very well placed with lots of food establishments and culture right nearby.

Unfortunately, on our second day, we returned from a full day out only to find a disgusting smell pervading the room, which the staff were decidedly unconcerned about. After a visit to the front desk and two phone calls, we finally had a member of staff come through only to spray around some air freshener and leave. Not really the investigation we wanted! At no point did they offer for us to move to a room that didn't smell or try and find the solution to the problem even though they could smell it too. Luckily, it faded after an hour or so with the window open, so we were able to sleep in peace, but the experience really soured what could have been a nice couple of nights.

We stayed here for 4 nights at the end of August and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in an excellent location about 10 minutes walk from the train station and on the edge of the city centre itself. The main square and belfort are a short stroll from the hotel and there are plenty of bars, cafes, shops and restaurants nearby.
The hotel itself is not luxurious but was clean and comfortable. Some parts of our room were showing signs of age but the bedlinen was clean as was the bathroom. We had tea and coffee making facilities in the room (not a Nespresso machine though as we were in a standard room), a tv with English channels, minibar and in room safe. We had to ask for an iron and ironing board though.
We used the pool on one occasion but the steam room was not working. Again, the facilities were clean but in need of renovation.
All the staff we encountered were helpful and friendly.

Really enjoyed our 2 night stay at this hotel. It's location is brill, train station is an easy 10-15 min walk and within 10 mins in the other direction you will find numerous sights, bars and restaurants. The rooms are spacious and well presented. The hotel staff are friendly and knowledgeable. We initially booked a room only option but after we saw the breakfast menu and price we chose to eat breakfast at the hotel and are so glad we did. Excellent choice that kept us going well until the afternoon. At this point, we skipped lunch and went for a mid afternoon belgian waffle whilst roaming the streets of this beautiful city. Its leisure facilities are an added bonus to this hotel if you do have a bit of spare time in the evenings, good sized pool and steam room Think also there may be a very small gym too. Would happily return and would recommend to others.
