“Great Hotel. Excellent staff and very comfortable.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2010

We stayed here over a long weekend and had a great time. The public areas are very handsome and everywhere is spotless. Our room was large, comfortable and quiet, the decor was a bit tired but we got the room at a very good rate through Travelocity so no issues there. The bed was as good as anything at Marriott or Starwood.
The pool was a nice touch and the hotel is very well situated for Bruges city centre.
Of particular note was the professional attitude of the staff. On our last morning we found that our car battery was flat and we returned to the hotel in need of help. The front office manager, Dominiek Van Der Steene, made sure we could use a phone to call for assitance and made sure we were well looked after. Well done NH Brugge, we won't stay anywhere else in Bruges.

Went to Brugge in March for a weekend trip and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a very spacious twin room with tea and coffee making facilities. I don't think I've ever slept on such a soft bed to be honest everything in our room was soft besides the tables. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We checked out a little late but were not charged and as our train didn't leave till the evening the staff offered to look after our luggage while we further explored the city. Next time I'm in Brugge I'll definately be staying here again.

I stayed at this hotel for one (unfortunately, only one) night recently. The property was actually an old beautiful monastery.
The square in front of the hotel had turned into some kind of an amusement centre with rides, games and food attracting crowds. Apparently a Saturday market that takes place there is also very interesting….I missed it though.
It is very easily reachable from the train station. I took a bus and got off near the red concert building. The hotel is just a one minute walk from there.
The town centre and canals are an easy walk away.
The staff was as efficient as one would expect any NH hotel staff to be. I had a beautiful big room with lots of luxurious details to it (coffee machine, safe, mini bar, individually controlled air conditioning, big, comfortable bed, chairs, tv). The bathroom was also lovely with the standard NH bath products provided.
The public areas of the hotel were charming…..a large lobby with an old world look, large ornate chairs…..very inviting indoor pool, fitness centre and restaurant. Breakfast was lavish but not included in the room rate.
Bruges is a very beautiful place and my night’s stay at this hotel made it even more special.

We have just come back from spending four days in Bruges and had a fantastic time. The Hotel is very close to all the sites, and despite its size and location is very quiet and pleasant. Our room was very spacious and clean. The bed was made daily and we had clean towels every day. We used the gym and pool which could do with a spruce but nonetheless it was workable and clean. The staff were very friendly and the barman knew everything there was to know about beer. Taste the 'Quack' beer for a bit of fun and something different.

Don't worry about the parking issue. You can drive up to the hotel door, take your luggage out and have 20-30 minutes time to check in and put your luggage in your room. They give you clear instructions to the car park which is literally across the road and very reasonable - 8 euros 40 for 24 hours.

I do recommend the Pink Bear Company for bike tours - a lady called Mickey takes you to lots of beautiful places outside of Bruges and has a great deal of knowledge under her belt - folk tales etc... (21 Euros for half a day) You wouldn't find these places without her.
Equally, the Vespa Tour was good value for money (55 Euros per person, 70 if you are sharing a Vespa). Bernarde (the guide) takes you to many places off the beaten track and you do roughly about 60km in three hours, along canals, through quaint towns etc. This is a great way to see a great deal of the area - which is flat and without doubt stunning.

In Bruges itself, the canal boat tours were exceptionally reasonable in price. The tour guides speak an array of languages and they really know their stuff.

I don't recommend the Diamante Museum - it was very boring and no gem was worth seeing; they are all fake and of poor quality. We did go to the Choco-story museum (the chocolate museum), but only go there if it's raining badly and you've done everything else; although you can learn a great deal about Chocolate, there is a great deal of reading and if you have kids, I imagine it is a fairly dull place for them to go to. You are better off looking in all the chocolate shop windows that have masterpiece displays,

There are some lovely restaurants around Bruges - the Belgium people regard the square as daylight robbery for their food prices - but that's usual whatever the city you go to. I suggest a restaurant called Christophe on Garenmarkt - the food is reasonably priced and more important beautiful - both to look at and taste. It is cooked right on site and you can see them preparing and cooking it.

We didn't have breakfast or food at the hotel, but there are many tea-rooms that are around the main streets and alley ways. Shops are plentiful for clothes and shoes if you want to splash out.

If you have a car then Ghent is merely 25 minutes drive - easy to find - easy to park etc and that is a pace that is just as beautiful. We went there for lunch and a canal boat ride - that's all, but it was still worthwhile doing if you have a couple of hours to spare. The train station which is only 10 mins away from the hotel also does a service there.

The beach is only 10km away too - so if you fancy a dip, there are some beautiful spots.

Hope this helps you to enjoy Bruges a little bit more. Don't forget to try the waffles and the pancakes!

The hotel is just walking distance from all the major attractions. Great location. When you go on the ascension weekend take into account that the square becomes a huge amusement park with all sorts of attractions. Fortunately we didn't hear any noise from our room though (I had asked for a quiet room not facing the square). The room was big, cozy and comfortable but not very well kept. When I bent down to look for something under my bed I saw there were peanuts and lots of dust, looks like they never clean there. Also there was someone's elastic hair band on the floor, not mine. There's a pool on the ground floor but it's not very inviting in fact I didn't go for a swim. A few tiles are missing at the bottom of the pool and it just gives an overall impression of being a bit shabby. Breakfast was great, a wonderful buffet, and it's served until 11:30 on Sundays giving you more time to take it easy.

The hotel room was comfortable and roomy, the breakfast was good, and the location was great. I really appreciated its proximity to the train station, about a 10-minute walk.

Decided to stay at the NH Brugge for a one night City Break in Bruges after reading positive reviews on this site. The hotel is well located just off the main City ring road but only a 5 minute walk from the Grand Platz. Parking was easy to find in the adjacent underground carpark. Reception staff were very polite and spoke good English. The room was very clean and contained all of the amenities that you would expect plus an espresso machine! Would stay at the NH Brugge if visiting the area again.
