A lovely hotel within walking distance of center of town and tourist sites. The hotel staff was very helpful with maps and sites to see. Also, while we were there just before Christmas and a bit chilly outside, a big spider was resting on the ceiling wall above my suitcase. I went to the front desk and the manager happily came to remove the spider. He used a glass jar to trap and dislodge the spider, thus by sparing its life. Large sitting room off the reception area had good wifi service and a place to see other guests.

We had a spacious room in the back garden area, which probably is a must to stay in during the summer. Beautifully landscaped, with a narrow rectangular pool with lounging bronze female figures situated before the garden apartments, provide good photo opportunities.

While we did not have breakfast there (too expensive), the food display looked inviting. Free coffee and tea accessible in the afternoon.

Would definitely stay there again.

My husband, 10 month old daughter and I stayed for 3 nights, room only, in March in a garden suite room.

The hotel and its grounds were very nice and well maintained. Our room was very nice and spacious, set over 2 levels with steps from bedroom down into lounge and bathroom area. We wanted a suite so we had a separate bedroom and lounge so we could relax in the evenings while our daughter was asleep in the bedroom. Unfortunately, there was no door on the bedroom, it had been removed for some reason. This meant we had to be extremely quiet while in the lounge in the evening to avoid waking the baby up.

I would recommend parents take their own travel cots, if they can as the mattress on the travel cot provided by hotel was very thin and uncomfortable. Our daughter would not sleep on it at all :( Luckily our bed was a king size and very comfortable as all 3 of us ended up in it each night.

There was no tea or coffee making facilities in room which was disappointing - I really need my caffeine fix first thing in the morning . There was free coffee and tea available in the main hotel building but this was not available until 11 am.

The water pressure in bathroom was really bad and some of bath seals needed replacing.

Free wi-fi was available but only worked in the main hotel building, not where we stayed in the annex.

Despite these minor points, it was all in all a very pleasant stay, in a good location in the beautiful city of Bruges.

I found this hotel to be quite comfortable and spacious with a deep and relaxing bathtub, which comes in handy after marching all day around Bruges, which is as magical as you might imagine. It's easy to find from the train station and is centrally located to all the sights.

The Hotel Montanus is roughly a kilometre from Bruges train station (walkable with wheely-bags from the Eurostar) and just down the road from the main stuff you'll want to see, e.g. the brewery, ornate religious buildings, boat/horse rides etc. Round the corner are some great chocolate shops - we had hot waffles every night on the way back to the hotel.

The hotel itself is friendly with English-speaking staff and a neat, modern decor. The breakfast was great once we got past the obligatory "Where do we sit? Do we just take stuff? Who do we ask for hot food?" continental-hotel-breakfast confusion. Room was spacious, bed was very comfortable, there were some English channels on TV (with Flemish subtitles). But - and I can't emphasise this enough - NO IN-ROOM TEA OR COFFEE FACILITIES. Not even a stinking kettle. Presumably so we end up paying three Euros fifty for a thimble-full in the bar downstairs. So I'm knocking off a star for that. Otherwise I can't really fault the place.

Found this hotel through Secret Escapes. Stayed 3 nights in April in a superior room in a garden room. Located on a quiet road, 10 minutes walk from the train station. Very comfortable hotel and rooms were spacious with excellent en suite facilities. Tea and coffees available in lounge area as is wifi but unable to get wifi in room. Excellent buffet breakfast and all staff were very friendly. Ideal location for exploring the amazing Bruges. Everywhere is easily accessible. I don't usually write hotel reviews but this is one of the best we have ever stayed in and would highly recommend

Room Tip: Recommend a garden room

We stayed two nights. The rooms are fine, unexciting, not desperately large, but fine and quiet. The beds are okay, probably too hard, but okay. The place was clean and tidy and warm. We didn't have breakfast, but the buffet looked good. The bar was quiet and very dull with overpriced bottled beer only. It's difficult to fault the place, but it was certainly uninspiring. The adjacent parking is no more, which we only found out on arrival, so you have to park 100 yds away at the Novotel. We left thinking, frankly, that we might have been better off at the Novotel altogether and we probably could have saved a few euros in the process....

Room Tip: Apparently the garden rooms are very nice, but they were all full when we booked. Suggest a room at...

I stayed in this hotel in January.
Is a very good location and a good quality for the price, but a small additional effort could make it great. Here are my suggestion for the management to improve:
- WiFi is free and works well in the main building, but is not present at all in the dependence, located just across the garden.
- The room was clean but with lack of attention to the details, for example out of the 2 coat hook on the wall, one was missing and there was only a hole in the wall, and the other was all bent out. The towel heater in the bathroom was old and the paint was all cheap out.
Overall I would go back as far as the price stays below 100 euro. For an higher price i would expect more.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main building
