This is our preferred hotel in Bruges. Just far enough from the centre to avoid the noise but a short walk to charming tourist attractions and historic buildings. Recommend the restaurants but some of the great ones are closed during the week in the winter.

Room Tip: Try for the ones at the back as there could be road noise until 11:00pm

We went in Dec 2011 for the Christmas markets, the hotel is in a great location for wandering around Bruges. When we rang the hotel to book we requested a room on a high floor in the main building and that's what we got. the reception desk were very helpful and friendly. On the first day our radiator stopped working in the room but they brought an electric heater up straight away, they also lent us a travel plug as i'd forgotten ours and needed to charge my moby. The bathroom was nice, clean and appeared quite new although the modern style seemed to mean no shower curtain or door and it was a bit drafty. The room was fine with TV, fridge, safe etc although i suppose i probably expected a more luxurious feel to the room for the price but then you are paying not only for the great location but also being in the Euro. The breakfast was good with all hot and cold options that you could imagine, which my husband took full advantage off, breakfasting like a king as they say! I'm gluten free and stuck to fruit followed by bacon & mushrooms. As for GF food i found that the restaurants we went in mainly understood my requests but you do have to be very clear, one waiter thought just a little bit of wheat in a sauce would be ok, he was mortified when i said not and changed my meal for me which was nice. I found the frites at the van in the Christmas market in Simon Stevin square were also ok minus the sauces which i didn't risk. Just before we left we went to the chinese takeaway ("Happy..." something) and the lady there cooked a special fried rice for me with no soy sauce and it was yummy. I also found one chocolate shop that the lady was very helpful and found that i could eat the florentines. we didnt go to many bars as are not big drinkers but the bar opposite our hotel Bar Republique had a great atmosphere. We went to the ice sculpture exhibition which was pricey but good fun as had a Disney theme and afterwards leads you into a bar where you can have a warming drink. We went on a bus tour the afternoon it was a bit rainy but mostly we walked and walked as its very scenic. We will go back in the spring one day.

Room Tip: Phone the hotel to request your preference in advance

I stayed here with my little boy in 2011 (aged 4) and it was a great experience.

The staff got me an excellent babysitter from their own team, she was very professional and my son loved her. I'm not sure if all the rooms are the same but ours for around 120 quid was huge like huge huge and a bathroom to match. Very clean bordering on genuinely posh (not four seasons but way better than a normal best western) interior of whole hotel very nice and beautifully kept throughout.

Parking is a 5 minute walk if the hotel car park is full and the main square is about the same maybe even a little less.

Check in and maids were very polite and friendly too.

Great place all round

Just returned after a short break at Hotel Navarra over New Year's eve. The hotel is very well located in the heart of the old town, is very well maintained and has a car park. The bedroom was well appointed and spotlessly cleaned. The hotel reception and cleaning staff were very friendly and efficient. Superb breakfast and great staff in the restaurant. The only problem we encountered was in the hotel bar...on two separate occasions we found the bar tender to be rude and inefficient. A bar which closes at 12 midnight on New Year's eve is unlikely to encourage huge patronage..! Bruges is a superb city to visit for a long weekend and I would recommend this hotel but be prepared to venture out to find great bars and restaurants with welcoming and efficient staff.

Room Tip: Rear rooms avoid noise from a lively bar on the opposite side of the road from the hotel.

Just back from a wet and windy Bruges where we enjoyed our stay at this cosy and friendly place with it's own courtyard and carpark on Jacobstraat.

All the staff are very accommodating, the wellness centre has a sauna and a reasonable sized pool in the basement, reception area is bright and open, they have a lift, and it's in a perfect location without the disturbances that you would expect being close to the market square.

Yes our bedroom was small but it was clean and tidy with a mini-bar, hairdryer, trouserpress, and a nice bathroom. The diningroom is spacious and breakfast is pretty good if a little uninspiring, the bar is attractive but closes way too early at midnight which has certainly cost them this New Year's Eve, when we got back from the fireworks and singalong and would have downed a few nightcaps. However when we go back we will say here for sure.

Room Tip: Make sure that you stay in the main building and not in the annexe which faces the carpark and get a...

We spent a couple of days here in the run up to Christmas.

The hotel was quiet, relaxing and central. The establishment was well maintained and the staff attentive and helpful.

The building itself is a delight, if confusing in layout, with a wonderful central staircase. A wonderful change form concrete and glass boxes.
