We stayed between Christmas and new year and had a great stay. Breakfast had a good choice. We were in the annexe which was fine. Our window practically looked onto the street but this caused no issues. Clean comfortable room and friendly staff.

We've just arrived back from a fantastic weekend in Bruges. The occasion was a 50th birthday trip with my cousin Kev and his pals. We travelled by Eurostar from St Pancras, what a great experience it was.

The hotel is located right in the centre of historic Bruges, just a short walk to one of the many squares with their amazing buildings, bars and restaurants. It is a very old building but restored and maintained to very high standards, its full of surprises especially the pool and sauna.

Don't forget the chocolateirs or the horse drawn carriages either they are pure romance.

Weather very cold, but wrap up warm and enjoy an amazing trip which can have whatever you want - we agreed a balance between culture, beer and chocolate!

Great place, great town and great company.

Have fun....

Paul & Di

We stayed for 3 nights from 20/01/2012. The hotel is just a couple of mins stroll from the main square. The hotel looks lovely from the outside and is lovely on the inside.
Our twin room was huge, the beds very comfortable and the bathroom was big and also very clean. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was very good and served until 11am at weekend/10.30 mid week, so you can have a lie in if you want.
We used the Wellness Centre in the basement of the hotel, the gym was good, it had one of each of the main pieces of equipment you would expect in a gym. The pool wasn't big enough to swim but was nice if you just fancy a dip in it, the water was a little cool but using the sauna afterwards was nice.

This is our preferred hotel in Bruges. Just far enough from the centre to avoid the noise but a short walk to charming tourist attractions and historic buildings. Recommend the restaurants but some of the great ones are closed during the week in the winter.

Room Tip: Try for the ones at the back as there could be road noise until 11:00pm

We went in Dec 2011 for the Christmas markets, the hotel is in a great location for wandering around Bruges. When we rang the hotel to book we requested a room on a high floor in the main building and that's what we got. the reception desk were very helpful and friendly. On the first day our radiator stopped working in the room but they brought an electric heater up straight away, they also lent us a travel plug as i'd forgotten ours and needed to charge my moby. The bathroom was nice, clean and appeared quite new although the modern style seemed to mean no shower curtain or door and it was a bit drafty. The room was fine with TV, fridge, safe etc although i suppose i probably expected a more luxurious feel to the room for the price but then you are paying not only for the great location but also being in the Euro. The breakfast was good with all hot and cold options that you could imagine, which my husband took full advantage off, breakfasting like a king as they say! I'm gluten free and stuck to fruit followed by bacon & mushrooms. As for GF food i found that the restaurants we went in mainly understood my requests but you do have to be very clear, one waiter thought just a little bit of wheat in a sauce would be ok, he was mortified when i said not and changed my meal for me which was nice. I found the frites at the van in the Christmas market in Simon Stevin square were also ok minus the sauces which i didn't risk. Just before we left we went to the chinese takeaway ("Happy..." something) and the lady there cooked a special fried rice for me with no soy sauce and it was yummy. I also found one chocolate shop that the lady was very helpful and found that i could eat the florentines. we didnt go to many bars as are not big drinkers but the bar opposite our hotel Bar Republique had a great atmosphere. We went to the ice sculpture exhibition which was pricey but good fun as had a Disney theme and afterwards leads you into a bar where you can have a warming drink. We went on a bus tour the afternoon it was a bit rainy but mostly we walked and walked as its very scenic. We will go back in the spring one day.

Room Tip: Phone the hotel to request your preference in advance

I stayed here with my little boy in 2011 (aged 4) and it was a great experience.

The staff got me an excellent babysitter from their own team, she was very professional and my son loved her. I'm not sure if all the rooms are the same but ours for around 120 quid was huge like huge huge and a bathroom to match. Very clean bordering on genuinely posh (not four seasons but way better than a normal best western) interior of whole hotel very nice and beautifully kept throughout.

Parking is a 5 minute walk if the hotel car park is full and the main square is about the same maybe even a little less.

Check in and maids were very polite and friendly too.

Great place all round
