The hotel is just off the main square. I came here for a couple of days R and R after working in Brussels. The staff were helpful and efficient and I was surprised to see the hotel had a gym and a small pool, tucked away in what was the wine cellars. I used both to unwind from the hectic crowds of Bruges.

The room was very comfortable although in common with the old buildings in Bruges, quite a maze to find and not the largest of rooms-although it was not too cramped. This added to the character of the place and was not a drawback at all.

Breakfast was fine and there are plenty of good restaurants nearby for the evening- if you can get a table, perhaps August is not the best time to visit Bruges! I would definitely recommend the hotl and would not hesitate to stay there again.

Room Tip: If you have any sort of disability you may prefer to be near the lifts as there are a lot of steps and twisting passageways en route to the rooms.

The Good

Five minute walk to Markt square
Good size, clean room with desk, small table, two chairs, LCD TV, safe, bar fridge and luggage stand
Comfortable king size bed and pillows
Bathroom with modern fixtures, including bath with shower head and splash wall (no curtain)
Very nice breakfast room with hot and cold buffet
Jazz bar with garden seating and live piano two evenings each week
Helpful front desk staff

The Bad

If you need to leave your luggage at the hotel, either before you check in or after you check out, the self-serve luggage room provides no real security, although you have to get the key from the front desk.
A few steps may need to be navigated depending upon which room you have.

The Verdict

An excellent base for exploring Brugge

We stayed in this hotel seven years ago, and enjoyed our stay so much that when we decided to return to Bruges there was no hesitation concerning the hotel. This hotel is literally just a few minutes' walk away from the market square in Bruges.
Since our last visit, we found that the traffic had increased along the road outside the hotel, but we did not hear a thing from the road. This might be because our room faced the back garden ,but it was a quiet hotel, regardless.
The free breakfast was to everybody's taste, being such a good selection of hot and cold food. This certainly set us up for the day. All the staff were very friendly and helpful
When we were last here, we were in an attic room ,which we thought had far more character than our room this time. Not that I am complaining, as no doubt some people probably prefer the smaller, but more modern room that we were in this time.
If we do decide to visit Bruges again, we would have no hesitation in selecting this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for an attic room if you like the character if this 17th century hotel.

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights and had a wonderful time in Bruges.
The hotel is just off the market so central to everything. The staff were friendly and the breakfast plentiful.
The room was clean and bright and was visited daily by a maid. A tad on the expensive side which is why I did not give it 5*
With the help of Insight guide "Bruges step by step" we had great fun exploring the nooks and crannies of this beautiful city

If your looking to spend a few days relaxing and exploring Bruges, this is a great place to stay. You are literally 2 minutes walk from the centre of Bruges, but the hotel is so quiet, no road noise at all. The breakfast was delicious, and there was a good choice of both hot and continental options.

Used the pool a couple of times, it wasn't the largest of pools but just lovely to come back to after a days walking.

We booked this break with the AA as a Eurostar mini break and getting the Eurostar was a breeze. Journey time 2 hours from Ebbsfleet International to Brussels then about 50 minutes on the local train to Bruges.
