“great hotel”
Reviewed 15 April 2012

Great hotel, we were a bit early, but the part checked us in, kept our luggage and we sat at the bar. booked with points, and were upgraded to a suite. large windows overlooking Burg square. exceptionally comfortable bed, very clean, lovely lounge area, bottled water every day, nespresso coffee pod machine, fab bathroom. staff were very friendly. nice pool and sauna, perfect for a refresher. breakfast was a good choice, although the customary 20 euro's a head; the only negative was hot part of the breakfast was not that warm. stayed 3 nights over easter, excellent stay.

This was my second stay at the Crowne Plaza and again I was not disappointed. The first time was with my daughter on a 2 week France and Belgium vacation. This time I stayed with my son. We all just loved Brugge and the Crowne Plaza. First of all room and bath is clean and comfortable. Each room is a bit different and we had a large "attic type" room with two full beds, desk, chairs, small refrigerator, flat panel tv. etc. They provide free coffee maker and free water as well as additional amenities. I love staying here because not only is it comfortable, clean and spacious, but the staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. It is central and within easy walking distance to everything Brugge has to offer -- and it has a lot to offer. It is one of the prettiest cities I have ever visited! Hope to return again!

We checked in at approx 1am and where greeted by the staff at the desk who checked us in all ok. However we were not given the local discount card which had been given to all others in out party who had checked in earlier in the day. Not a major issue but a little annoying. The room itself was fairly clean however I did not think the rooms felt particularly modern and screw heads where visible in the dado boarding around the room. Not a major issue but I expected a little higher standard from the rooms.

My main issue was with the bar and its staff. In this hotel there is the open plan restaurant which within has a small bar and allocated bar seating area. There is also another bar which is much larger and usable. One evening we returned to the bar to find there were no seats within the allocated bar area so we sat in the restaurant only to have the bar maid wave aggressively at us from behind the bar ushering us to move. We started to move and the bar maid came over and ignored us as she went to deliver a drink. It was only as we quite forwardly asked her where should we sit she just said you cannot sit there with no offer of finding us another seat or offering a reason as to why we couldn't sit in the restaurant area. She then went to walk off. We then asked her where should we sit to which she just looked blankly at us. We ended up sitting in the hotel foyer until someone had moved for our group to sit in the bar area. It then took a significant amount of time to be served as the bar maid seemed intent on not taking our order taking those who had joined the bar after we had started to wait to place our orders.

It was then later on when we were the only people left in the bar the lights where turned off on us whilst we were still chatting (at not an unreasonable hour) which we decided to take as a hint from the bar to leave. When voicing our displeasure the bar staff simply did not care saying the manager does not want people sitting in the restaurant area.

I do not understand why when the hotel had another bar which was more suitable for the hotels size it was not been used, and why the bar staff felt the need to be so unpleasant over what could of quite easily been a polite miss-understanding. I can see there been a lot of potential with the hotel and had the staff been more helpful I would not of felt the need to write this review.

Stayed here in April 2012 for two night with two girlfriends. Couldn't fault it really. Location is great - right in the centre of Bruges on one of the main squares within easy walking distance anywhere. Yet it didn't feel too busy or noisy. We had a triple room on the sixth floor - really spacious with lots of extra room and very comfortable beds, clean, classy linens etc. Reception staff were excellent - when we asked for a taxi they called one instantly, when we asked for train times they printed them out for us. The pool is small but adequate for a city centre hotel; didn't use the restaurants and bar because there were so many great ones close by. The free bottled water in the room was a nice touch. There may be other hotels with more age or atmosphere, but you won't go wrong with this hotel.

Brugge is is a beautiful compact city and we stayed here for 2 nights purely because of the superb location.
The room we had (206) was a bit dated but it was a good size and everything worked perfectly. Not much of a view though.
We stayed on a room only basis as I thought the breakfast was a bit dear. Unfortunately we were running late the morning we left and decided to have breakfast in the hotel, bad move....The food had been sitting around for a few hours and was only lukewarm. 2 hours later the dreaded runs set in....not nice when you have a 600 mile drive ahead of you!
Hotels in Brugge are expensive and this one considering the excellent location represents good value. I'd stay here again no problem.

My husband and I stayed at the Crowne Plaza Brugge for four days. It is a modern hotel, but with a touch of historic character. Each room is slightly different, and if you're lucky enough to get a corner room you'll have considerable space. The staff were very efficient and helpful in arranging taxis and helping us get oriented in the city. It's centrally located and close to everything (although Brugge is pretty small anyway). If I were to go back, I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Request a corner room if at all possible!
