We stayed here for four nights in September. Its central location in the Burg was ideal - the square is more elegant and quieter than the much busier Markt - a hundred metres away. We had a standard room on the 7th floor overlooking the square - the only major traffic noise being the clip clop of the horse drawn carriages. The room was a good size with a very comfortable queen-sized bed. One notable feature was the provision of a tea/coffee making facility - something we have not seen in France, Germany or Italy. We'd booked breakfast which was very good with a wide choice of hot/cold food. This was served in the Plaza Cafe which during the day serves as a very good pavement cafe. In the basement of the hotel are the well preserved ruins of St. Donats cathedral that stood on the site until it was demolished by French troops in the 18th century. On the 8th floor is an excellent swimming pool where you can work off the excesses of Belgian chocolates. We decided to eat at local restaurants of which there are a multitude. The staff on the front desk were very helpful and spoke excellent English.
Overall an excellent place to stay for a short break.More
