Lovely hotel in a great location, can easily walk into the centre of town.
The spa is worth a visit, we had it to ourselves.
Great Japanese restaurant.
Would definitely stay again

Just returned from a long weekend break in Bruges and have to say that the Golden Tulip De Medici exceeded all our expectations.
The room was spotless, the staff were friendly and attentive, the food was good and the location was great (a pleasant 15 minute stroll from the centre of town.)
There's a Carrefour mini-market right across the canal from the hotel's front door which was great for buying coffee, sugar, cigarettes, etc.
All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Bruges and are planning to go back again. And we'll probably stay at the Golden Tulip De Medici. Which says it all about the quality of the place.

Happy to answer any questions.

Dave & Gill in Manchester.

This was a surprise nearby trip, but it proved to be a pleasant surprise. Weather was sunny, our hotel room was very spacey with a double height ceiling, the bathroom offered everything we needed. The breakfast (included in our price) was nice enough, esp. the bread was good. Staff was helpful and friendly. When you have a car, the location does not force you to pay for a hotel parking space. You find parking space in the streets (you need a blue card allowing you to stay for 4 hours). The hotel is just a pleasant walk along Bruges' beautiful canals to the heart of the city.
If you do not have to pay the advertised rates, this hotel is certainly worth considering.

i thought that for the money we paid and the location it was a bargain.Yes its a chain hotel but we had a queen bed,a sunken bath and excellent cleaning staff. The breakfast was a choice of english, continental and dutch i.e. cheese, ham rolls etc it was more than suitable with plenty of seating. The reception staff and the bar staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Room Tip: my room was 124 there was a little buzzing from the air con and a little traffic noise but the hotel...

The hotel was chosen because it is situated in a residential part of the city with very pleasant canal walks into the main town which is a pleasant 15 minutes walk. The price at 180 euros for two nights was good value and the breakfast substantial Didnt have time to use the small gym but it was all there. Couldnt eat there because it was supposed to be full but it was not so ate out for the two nights in town which was much better with lots of atmosphere. The parking was good outside the hotel with a blue disc paid at reception for 2.50 euros Parking in general in Bruges is expensive elsewhere. Visited the diamond museum at 19 euros and was very impressed with the demonstration

Room Tip: rooms at the back overlooking the japanese garden were very quiet and look very modern the canal vie...

This hotel was OK and good value for money for the price we paid, which was considerably below the advertised room prices. We would have considered it bad value for money at the advertised rates.

It wasn't awful but it needed some tlc and a refresh, it was just a bit tired and soulless.

The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful.

The breakfast offered a reasonable choice but although there was a sign telling you to wait to be seated there were no staff, so people were standing around pointlessly. Also the coffee was from a machine and in a four star hotel we would expect to have fresh coffee brought to the table. The juice was the cheapest possible and absolutely foul.

The TV channels on offer were good, including BBC1.

The en-suite was small, no necessarily a problem but in this case meant that it was difficult to turn the bath taps on as they were at the end with the shower screen but the screen didn't pull back far enough because it hit the loo. The toiletries were not up to scratch eg shower wash / shampoo was from a dispenser and seemed poor quality.

Although within the old city it was further out than we would have liked, too far to pop back during the day to drop off shopping or have a break. Otherwise the location was quite good, by a canal and in a quiet area. It was also handy for the windmills and the folklore museum which is cheap and lovely - it's more "how we lived then" than folklore and well worth a visit.

On balance it was OK and fine at the price we paid but personally I would prefer to be more central and found the hotel in need of an update.

Room Tip: Probably better to have a room either overlooking the central courtyard or in the older part of the...

Stayed here on a cold weekend in Jan 2012 after getting a very good deal on a train + hotel package.
For the price we paid we were probably expecting a bit of a dump but the Golden Tulip was far from that. A genuine four-star Bruges hotel.
We had a lovely dual-aspect corner room (130) which was well-sized with a king-size bed.
Staff were friendly, breakfast was more than sufficient and the bar was pleasant (if a bit likely stocked on local brews).
Would recommend a stay here.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room.
