“Very good hotel”
Reviewed 1 February 2013

Nice, big room, very comfortable beds, clean bathroom. Very good breakfast, nice and helpful staff, great location just few minutes to the centre of amazing old town. One more thing: bus stop is 30 meters from hotel, which means you can reach there from the train station for just 1,2 euro,

We supposed to stay in this hotel for 2 nights, but decided to leave after 1 night. The beds were uncomfortable, we asked for a double bed, but they have only single beds. Not really romantic... the bathroom looks pretty nice, but the bath was leaking. So, after a shower the entire bathroom is under water. We asked for another room, they gave us the room next door, it had the exact same single beds and the exact same issue in the bathroom. So, not a place for a romantic weekend...

The staff were generally pleasant and helpful (although it did take them a full day and two requests to change a light bulb). The room was clean, the heating was easily adjustable and the window was openable. The only problem, that was actually quite annoying, was that in the early hours the plumbing above our room commenced a very strange and noisy gurgle sound that some hours later developed into what sounded like a full laundry cycle which continued until normal wakening time. We stayed there three nights and it resulted in our being wakened on each. The hotel may well have agreed to a room change as it was a quiet period had we insisted but it is always a nuisance and the sound was sufficient for them to have already been aware of it and to have done something to have it resolved. Breakfasts were perfectly adequate. Well located some ten mins walk central squares yet fairly quiet. Gym (spa ?) can be discounted; tiny, gloomy and poorly equipped.

I was there with my girlfriend for a weekend getaway. The location was very good just a 10 min walk to the center and in general the hotel looked very nice. However there were a couple of things that were very poor:

Breakfast: There were mostly very large tables for about 12 persons so taht you had to share the table with other guests. Even worse something was missing all the times (spoons, bread, butter...) and you had to wait for it. The staff in the breakfast area seemed to be overwhelmed.

Noise: Whenever the elevator is used you can hear this in your room (upper floor) very loud.

Shower: There seems to be a major problem with the shower (or at least was when we were there). When showering occasionally water which is hotter than like you adjusted it comes out. This actually hurt me a couple of times pretty bad.

Room Tip: Not in the upper floor

our stay in hotel de medici was very nic, nice room, nice bathroom, very close to the center, good breakfast, one point was less, in our reservation stood that parking was free, it wasn't. there was no parking place outside in the street, so we parked in the parking for 15 euros so said the receptionist, when we left we had to pay 18,15 euro , because that was the inclusive tax price, i fount that not nice at all!

Stayed with my wife for 3 nights at the De Medici from Jan 2nd 2013. Friendly efficient check in, parked car for 3 days at 15 euros a day. Really pleasant, large, nicely appointed room (226). It was nice to have a table and 2 chairs in the room. Great breakfast buffet with lots of choice and constantly replenished by very attentive staff. Had a couple of snacks and drinks in the pleasant bar - good value. The hotel is set on one of the canals, so some rooms will have a canal view. As everyone says, about a 10 minute walk from the town centre. I thoroughy recommend a tour of the brewery and stay for there for a great set lunch. I would equate the De Medici to a good 3 star hotel in the UK. I would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Don't worry about not having a canal view. You might ask for a view over the Japanese garden in...

Had a lovely stay in January 2013 with my girlfriend. The hotel has very helpful staff and an elaborate breakfast at its disposal. Great location, with only a 10 minutes walk to the city center, only the parking availability is little and the hotel is a bit outdated and needs some renovation. Other than that we enjoyed our stay!
