Me and my boyfriend stayed at this hotel for 2 nights for valentines day. Bruges is an amazing and beautiful city that is perfect for a romantic getaway.
When we arrived at the hotel we were checked in very quickly and the woman gave us a bigger room than we had booked with a beautiful view of the Belfry outside our window. we were not able to go to our room just yet as we arrived at 9 a.m and couldn't get into it until 3 but this wasn't a problem at all. everyone says how amazing the location is but you dont realise until your there. we went to the bell tower, churches, town hall, chocolatiers, loads of shops and plenty of restraunts and all of them were within a 30 second to 5 minute walk from the hotel. also right on the doorstep we had the canal boats, horse and carriage rides and bike hire. it was perfect. i would definately recommend hiring a bike for the day. As the euro has gotten strong to the pound if your on a budget as we were Bruges can be a very expensive city. you can hire a bike for about 10 euro for the day and spend the full day just leisurely riding around the beautiful cobbled streets and canals. the horse and carriage looked nice but at 36 euro for a 30 min ride we decided against it and went for a canal ride instead at just 7 euro each. you are looking at anywhere between 18-35 euro for a standard meal but you get very big portions in the restraunts so one main tends to go a long way!
The breakfast in the hotel was very good with lots to suit everone from pastries to hot food and of course fruit and meats and such and we left stuffed every morning.
the hotel was very clean the staff were very friendly and helpful but something i really liked about the hotel was that they try to be a very eco friendly hotel. you can even get free vouchers for your next stay for doing things like not having your towels changed to save water and prove your carpooling and using public transport. it is a hotel with a good conscience. i guess the one downside to that though is the whole hotel is hooked up to energy saving bulbs which make it very hard to put makeup on for a night out but this was a minor detail and i liked the reason behind it so wasnt too fussed. also thanks to 'fanny' the girl behind reception who helped us sort a few things while we were there.

The hotel is in a great location, you can literaly see the square from you're room!, (depending where you're located in the hotel), room was modern, cleaned everyday, bed was made, clean towels and great power shower!, the only downside was that the bed was too big for the room! and I thought that it was also poorly lit. Our room was facing the high street, so you could hear the cars and the horses pulling the carts up and down the street, and to my surprise there was no Tea and Cofffee facilities in the room!. Other than that it was faultless

My husband and I stayed here for three nights in February. The hotel is in a good location, directly behind the bell tower. However, since the city is so small, location isn't of much importance. The bell tower was charming at first, but quickly became annoying when it woke us up early in the morning with excessive chiming (~3 minutes). The hotel was a good deal at 75€/night, but you definitely get what you pay for. The rooms have very poor, 'eco-friendly' lighting, and are a bit cramped. The beds are uncomfortable and gave some back pain. The internet was good when it was working, but wasn't working for one of the nights. Overall, it's an OK hotel, but for the same price I would stay somewhere a bit quieter.

2nd stay at hotel in 4 years.Room(cosy room) very comfortable clean well furnished, bathroom very clean and modern, shower powerful and hot. Location excellent for the centre and surrounding areas, everywhere within walking distance. Staff friendly and helpful. An excellant breakfast for choice and quality, I would certainly recommend including breakfast in your choice especially considering the price of food from other food outlets in the area,(we paid an extra £12 a night for breakfast for two)

The hotel offers parking at 24 euros for the day (expensive) use the zand underground parking 5 mins walk away 8 euros 60

Warning Brugge is getting very expensive for food and drink. In the hotel we paid 31 euros for 2 Pims with lemonade and two 500cl of beer. We got caught in the square 2 teas and two 500cl beeers 27 euros, the restaurants in the square and surrounding areas offer fixed menus 20 -35 euros (soup, beef stew and mousse) so be warned. It has left a bad feeling of being ripped off so we will not be going back to Brugge again. If you decide to go I would recommend the hotel but be on your guard against being ripped off.

We have just got back from a long weekend at this hotel. I am writing to say that the hotel is fantastic and dont know what people have moaned about. The room sizes are fine and have everything you need other than tea and coffee in your room. We stayed in 105 and has a great view. We found the staff very friendly and helpful and would certainly go back again. The location is brilliant just a few minutes walk to the main square and Belfry Tower. Breakfast seemed a little expensive but you could eat as much as you liked and catered for all. Happy hour in the bar is worth a visit. You are five minutes in a taxi from Bruges train station.

Stayed for just the one night in January 2011. Have to say that overall, I was very pleased with the place and especially the staff were really friendly and helpful. Location of this hotel is truly fantastic - directly behind the Belfrey (go early as soon as the place opens if you want to climb it or you will queue for ages!). Our room was OK, although a kettle and tea / coffee facilities would have been nice to have and a minor gripe that the low energy light bulbs give quite poor light and there were not really enough lights in the first place - I was only able to read properly using the desk lamp!! Parking was quite expensive at €24 per night but it is secure and very safe. The parking area gets full so arrive early with your car if you want to ensure you get a space (entrance is a little bit hidden right at the back opposite corner of the block - opposite the entrance to the police station). You could also park in the garage for a short while and unload your luggage before moving your car to a public parking which would cost you €8-€10 / day and save a bit of cash. Breakfast was OK and there was quite a lot of choice although the hot food selection was not that great - and some of it was cold (despite arriving about 20-30 mins after the breakfast opened. In summary, I would certainly stay there again (or any other of the Martin's hotels) next time I am back in Bruges / Belgium!
