“Lovely, friendly and helpful Hotel”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

We've just returned from a wonderful weekend away in Bruges, staying at this hotel. I was very impressed with the service I got via email prior to arrival with some questions I had. The hotel made arrangements for someone to check us in after hours (check in closes at 10pm, we arrived at midnight). We took a taxi from the trains station (€9). The hotel is in the heart of Bruges, in a lovely quiet area on a canal 5min walk from all the attractions. Our twin room and bathroom were spotless. The staff at reception were very helpful with directions and recommendations - I was even able to borrow a charger for my phone. Breakfasts are great with a fantastic variety. Overall, the hotel is good value for money and very cosy - perfect for friends and families of al ages. Highly recommend

Generally a good hotel, very central, a 5 minute walk from the centre of town, and although the decor is a bit dated to say the least, it was a place to crash for us and served it's purpose! However, the shower in our room didn't work. When we mentioned this to the reception staff they were very unhelpful, and didn't even apologise. For what you pay, you don't expect great things, but the attitude was disappointing.

Room Tip: Not room 401, try and get an outside room to get a view of the street!

7 Euros by taxi from the train station puts you in the middle of Brugge and blocks from the Europ Hotel. The front end staff is as friendly as can be and they will answer all your questions with a smile and charm and then run to the bar and be your bartender. Our room was an inside room with a view of nothing but somehow we were still charmed. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom clean.

Room Tip: An outside, streetside room would allow for a view that you don't get on the interior

I was surprised that this hotel has only two stars because in another city it would be certainly hotel with three ones. Hotel is quiet, cosy, with good breakfast. Good for family or couple in every age

Wonderful location, quiet and near to the centre of Bruges. Our room was adequate ( we paid slightly extra for a larger bed) if a little dark and the only mirror was in the bathroom and not full length. I felt it was value for money but was let down by the breakfast. A major feature of Bruge is the wonderful bakeries but this did translate itself to the breakfast offering. Shiny ham, poor qulaity wafer thin cheese slices and average bread rolls. I have had many continental style breakfasts over the years and this just felt tired and without care. The fresh fruit salad which appeared one morning had not seeded/cored the apples but just hacked them into cubes !

Its a shame that the breakfast let the whole stay down as the staff in every other area tried hard to please.

Ok, this is a budget, tourist hotel. It's affordable and it's in an excellent location for exploring the gorgeous city of Bruges. Just a few minutes to walk to the town square and easy to get to anywhere in the city.
Staff are very helpful, speak excellent English and are happy to help with suggestions for restaurants and places to see.
Rooms are reasonably sized, clean and comfortable, but the decoration is a little tired. But hey, it's half the price of other hotels and the breakfast is included. The breakfast is again, adequate with all the usual stuff, but there are just so many yummy cafes in the city, we found that we tended to venture out for brunch rather than stay for the brekky buffet.
Parking is 20 Euros/day but you can park in the city underground parking for about 6/day. And at weekends you can use the blue parking disks. Whatever you decide the staff can help you.

So, all in we loved the location and would come back here for sure.

Great value for money.

Excellent location only few minutes walk to the market square. Quiet location. Staff very friendly and helpful n multilingual. Breakfast was continental but they have made an effort to please every nationality with the buffet option including sliced bread & toaster for us Brits. Other options included fruit, yogurt, cereal, various meat & cheeses. Tea & coffee are available at breakfast however no facilities in the room to make yourself. We were. Aware of this before we booked but due to luggage restrictions decided not to take our travel kettle etc & found that our caffine fix at breakfast was enough as plenty of cafes around if we needed to top up (also gave us an excuse to use their toilets as most public toilets charge to use them). The room was a decent size and the bed comfortable. We had a shower in our ensuite however there were rooms with baths. The only negative points would be the room was very hot & u needed the window open to cool it down which then created a new problem of letting the Mosquitos in. Had we been aware if the Mosquitos in advance we would have come prepared with repellents and bite cream. The room did have a plug in repellant which we only found on the last 2 days which did help. A fan to hire at reception or in the room would be an improvement worth considering for the owners. Despite these minor problems we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.
