“Great little hotel, and will stay again”
Reviewed 26 May 2014

My girlfriend and I stayed here for a midweek break last week, and were delighted with this hotel. We had read the reviews, good and bad, and as we are on a budget, we decided to give it a try.
We arrived at Brugge railway station, and decided to get a taxi to the hotel, which was about 8euro's ( just so you have a rough idea). The hotel is situated in a great spot, next to a canal, in a peaceful street, but only a 5-10min walk into the main square, the guy on the desk gave us a map, and marked everything out for us. They were all very polite and helpful throughout our stay.
We were really impressed with our room, quite sizeable, with a large window looking out onto the side street. Tv worked fine and the bed was very comfortable, with nice clean bedding. Although the bathroom was a little small, the shower worked just fine, and we had no problems with hot water etc.
To be fair, it is a 2star hotel, and we found everything just fine including the breakfast, there are many other hotels in Brugge that charge three times the price we paid, so we thought it was good value for money, and are already planning to come back and stay here again!!
Just an extra bit of info now, when you are staying in Brugge, food in restaurants etc, we found to be quite expensive , and can heartily recommend Delaneys Irish Bar in town, which offered great food and beer at a reasonable price. (Fantastic Burgers!). Also, there are loads of souvenir and chocolate shops around, but to save a few quid, the small supermarkets in town sell much the same chocolate and beer etc, but for quite a bit less
All in all,a very good value for money hotel, at a good location, but if you want a flashy/glitzy hotel right in the centre of town, it will cost you a small fortune per night.

Coming from Australia, we are aware how important it is to source accommodation early, as we have to book and pay for our flight quite some time in advance. We assumed that it would be a simple matter of just ‘fronting’ up to the hotel reception, and getting our room keys after identifying ourselves and confirming our booking with them. The woman at reception informed us that they (the hotel) had no booking in either of our names, and it was left to use to prove otherwise. We provided copies of the email correspondence from Hotels.com confirming our booking and the receptionist continued this mantra of “well that may be so, but you’re not on our computer”! After a good forty-five minutes, the receptionist relented and gave us the keys to our room, with the proviso that we email her a copy of the information we had from Hotels.com, confirming our booking, by this time, a queue had formed behind us. A male member of staff (or the owner) came to the desk to check what the problem was, and on being informed, he promptly went to the dining room and came back with a mug of coffee, which he then stood and drank in front of the waiting queue, totally oblivious to the concerns of the waiting guests. At no time did we get an apology for the inconvenience caused and we were left feeling embarrassed that other guests may have been given the impression that we were trying to get free lodgings!

Room Tip: Top floor rooms have no WiFi access and the shower in the bathroom has hardly any pressure. This was...

Parked the car on the corner.....mmm....not sure
Checked in....swift, efficient....err..parked car on corner?
Not good - i was shown to a spot further down the road with a "borrowed" parking permit for 5 euros..hand it back and I will return your deposit!!!
Then i witnessed a resident - i don't have a suitable travel plug - no problem - big box of various that you can borrow!!
Our room even had a complimentary mozzi plug - not that we would need it.
From start to finish this has been a good hotel, view down the side road with double glazing has been a quiet room.
Breakfast is a staged affair so that it is not too busy and queuing, nice selection of European fare.
Room is spotless - only complaint is a hard pillow - being picky, might be?
Overall, i would stay here again - absolutely no questions asked, they do go the extra mile -
Bruges is small and this is my 5th visit and this hotel is a perfect location to explore and
superfast internet has allowed me to write this on my last night - please visit!!

Room Tip: We were in room 36 which was on a side road but it is a quiet location anyway and unsure if it matte...

We've enjoyed 3 nights at Bruge Europ Hotel in April, 2014.
Pros:
+location: 10 relaxing walking distance till the city center;
+good (4-5 Mbps) WiFi available in rooms;
+good and diversified breakfast;
+nice and usefull staf;
+room and hotel cleariness;
+just be fair and set your expectation for a resonable 2 star hotel;
+ due to cobblestons road I do not recomand walking with troley lagguage to and from railway station, 3 & 13 busses take you in thr hotel proximity or any bus to the city center. AnyWay, there are over 2 Km till railway station;
- cossy local pubs in the hotel proximity;

Cons:
- small room (at least our was) and very small Tv;
- all shops in city downtown are closing at 19:30. Probably the shops in the railway could be a solution for urgencies (eg. mineral water..);

Upon arrival we were advised to wait until 2pm before we were able to check in.

Not a problem, allowed to leave luggage in reception, also given early check-in at 20 past 1.

The rooms are very basic bust spacious. The single beds were rather hard and uncomfortable to sleep on however after a tiring day was good to sleep with the peaceful location.

The breakfast was very basic, although not much more was expected, a short 10 minute stroll allowed you straight to the main attractions where we got breakfast from there.

Bathroom was very basic with just a shower and tight space for the toilet. We had a few issues with the shower and getting the temperature as would be very hot, then reduce to rather cold. After turning the shower off it still produced water for a while after, not a problem as leaving the room after a shower.

Overall good value for money, would stay again.

We stayed there for 3 nights. Bruges, well what can I say..the entire part of the old city is magnificent. But after walking through all the attractions it is always good to have a nice and quite place to sleep. The hotel is nicely situated by the canal, but not the the one that most people will wonder around, but still just 10 minutes from the town square. We stayed in the 3 beds room located in the atic. The room is spacious and clean. The breakfast is so standard, but then this is not a problem for us as we normally eat out of the hotel anyway.

So we recommend this hotel if you want some quite place to stay but still only 10 minutes to the attractions. But then in Bruges..everything is withing walking distance.

It is a 2 star hotel. If you book it, don't expect luxury. Friendly service, mostly clean and very good quiet location. Double bed was in fact 2 large singles put together, quite firm. We didn't have a bath, but a good shower. Complimentary breakfast was good. Nothing really negative. Would stay there again.
