We stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is situated near the center of the city and the hosts were very helpful during our stay. The breakfast room is very cosy. I would stay in this hotel for my next visit.

My wife and I just returned from our stay in Bruges from 24 April 2014 to 26 April 2014. Bruges is a wonderful city all by itself but the Hotel Ter Duinen made it all the more special. The hotel is beautiful, quaint, and the perfect size. The breakfast is great and the staff is amazingly nice and helpful. The location is about a 10-15 minutes walk from Markt (the city center essentially). We actually enjoyed not being in the exact center of the tourist hubbub and very much felt we had a more authentic time being in the north side of the city.
Overall, there are many many options of places to stay in Bruges, but I would recommend this hotel above all others. I have never written a hotel review before but felt compelled by our wonderful experience to write one here.
Advertised as a charming hotel in a charming city this sentiment is correct. However add to that the charming hosts who were so helpful during our stay and it is almost perfect. The breakfast was wonderful and the breakfast room beautifully decorated with a lovely view of the canal). The only reason I have chosen very good rather than excellent was because our room (although exceptionally clean) was a little on the small side for a double but this certainly didn't spoil our stay in lovely Bruges.
I stayed here with my mum for two nights in April 2014. It is a beautiful hotel facing the canal in Bruges. We stayed in a twin room on the ground floor which was charming with spectacular views of the canal. The staff at Hotel Ter Duinen were so friendly and provided an excellent service at all times. The breakfast was incredible! I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Bruges!
Me and my wife stayed for 3 nights on Easter, it was lovely and charming. The family that run the hotel is fantastic, in advising what do to, what's best to do, very friendly. The room was very nice, neat, maybe a little small but we didn't really care, we had a beautiful view on the internal garden. The location is ok, 10 mins walking away from the main square, or you can buy bus tickets at the hotel, the bus stop is just in front of it. Overall the hotel is very comfortable, very nice breakfast room and beautiful lounge to relax reading a book in front of the garden. For breakfast you will have fresh fruit that owner buys at the local market, plus other selection of delicatessen. I strongly advise this hotel for your romantic holiday in Bruges.
We've just returned from a three night stay at the charming, friendly Hotel Ter Duinen. I was travelling with my parents and partner, we all slept very well in two rooms at the front of the hotel. When we booked only one canal view room had been available so when we arrived it was a nice surprise to find we had been allocated two canal view rooms next to each other, I believe a change in someone else's plans had enabled us to have this upgrade. The check in process was very smooth, typical of the way in which the hotel runs, and the start of the welcoming manner in which the hotel treats it's guests, everyone working there was pleasant and attentive at all times.
Both bedrooms were exceptionally clean, decorated with style, and with incredibly effective sound proofing - this may be an unusual thing to mention, especially as the hotel is on a quiet street but the double glazing blocked everything, and even more impressively there was no TV sound from adjacent rooms - absolutely nothing to disturb you until you wish to rise for the lovely continental breakfast that awaits you in the bright and airy breakfast room downstairs. Breakfast is very well staffed which ensures everyone is served attentively even when every table is full which was the case on two of the mornings we ate there.
Starting with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice, croissants, soft boiled eggs and fresh crusty bread you then have a choice from a broad selection of high quality items on a self serve buffet - we particularly enjoyed the fresh fruit pots, cheeses, hams and the range of breads available - a lovely personal touch was to find mini Easter eggs on the table on easter Sunday - you're never too old for chocolate at breakfast!
The hotel is situated on a quiet street which offers a pleasant ten to fifteen minute stroll into town either directly along the canal or through the cobbled back streets of the St Giles district - we used a variety of routes in and out of town, invariable stopping to take many photos of the quaint buildings. We all enjoyed being slightly out of town, away from the crowds and it also encouraged us to explore behind the main centre - we spent a lovely morning strolling through the St Anne's district and along the outer canal which has four renovated windmills and a great running path for anyone that might want to go for a run whilst in town.
The hotel does not serve evening meals or have a bar but this was not an issue for us as there so many options nearby and the staff all had local recommendations to share. All in all we had a wonderful three days in Bruges, lots of sight seeing and fantastic food - this was all helped by the friendly team at Ter Duinen hotel and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for a comfortable stay and would happily stay here again.
