“Clean and simple”
Reviewed 14 July 2010

This is a small simple hotel with a helpful owner and set in a very good location. The rooms are basic but comfortable and ideal for just a place to crash for the night. The hotel is set just off the main ring road so very easy to get to and has its own garage which you can book a slot for 7euros. It sits by one of the canals and is less than ten minutes walk from the main square. Breakfast was included in the price and was traditional continental.I would happily stay again.

I planned to spend one evening in Bruges, but ended up extending my trip and staying another evening. I was extremely impressed with the Hotel Ensor. It is a great value, especially considering its central, yet quiet location and all rooms being en-suite. The mattresses could use some updating, but considering the price I am not complaining. The best feature, however, is the staff/ownership. The gentleman who runs the place (along with his wife) was exceptionally helpful from the start, giving me a map and pointing out the places he felt were most worth visiting with the time I had. Furthermore, he also helped me figure out some travel arrangements, and was perfectly fine with arranging for a 5:30 breakfast so I could make my train. Overall I am extremely pleased, and would recommend the hotel to anyone who is looking for a budget hotel in Bruges.

This was by far one of our favorites among all the places we stayed over 3 weeks across Europe. We only stayed one night, but we fell in love with this amazingly priced, quaint hotel with a ton of character. Our room was huge, overlooking the canal, with two chairs, a wardrobe, large comfy bed, and a great bathroom with vintage green & white tilework - I loved it so much I took a picture of that alone. Location - Perfect - quiet street, easy walk to the center of town where you can have the best frites in the universe, according to the man selling them in the green wagon by the Belfort. Explore all the little streets, try different beers, take a beautiful canal ride, sample some incredible chocolate (they even had dairy-free dark chocolate for strict vegetarians!), then come home to Hotel Ensor for the night. Breakfast was the best continental offerings we've had - with fresh warm rolls and good selection of teas. We were just blown away by the quiet beauty of Bruges as a whole, and would have gladly paid twice the price to stay in a quality room at the Ensor. Friendly staff and friendly town! visit Zen - a vegetarian restaurant just a few blocks away. We were too late to enjoy their lunch, but some of their patrons saw us leaving, weary and hungry with our backpacks, and caught up with us to offer other helpful suggestions of where to eat. It almost felt like a parallel universe! We'd gladly move to this nice quiet town!

Booked this hotel at the last moment. It is in a really good location near the main road but extremely quiet. The hotel is in need of updating. However it would probably lose all its charm. The room we stayed in was big. It had no TV, the bathroom was off the bedroom. The continental breakfast was very good.
The owner speaks very good English and was extremely helpfull

just enjoyed a night at the Ensor Hotel, only booked 2 hours before we arrived at the hotel and was pleasently suprised.the hotel was nice and warm and reception was very efficient.Room was on the front with canal view, and was very clean and tidy.
Breakfast was typical continental, with a good selection of fresh breads and ham cheese etc , would stay again as its value for money and has a good location.Dosent do meals but can recoment the Pastis Bistro next door, has fantastic food which is not easy to find in Brugge .

We only spent one night in Bruges but would have loved to spend longer. It took us a long time to find the hotel as we were driving and did not have a street directory or GPS but once we got there we were pleased to have selected it. The hotel is near the heart of the city yet in a very quite street overlooking a canal. The secure undercover parking was one of the main attractions for us but the hotel itself was charming. Our room was large by European hotel standards and had windows overlooking the canal and street. Breakfast was taken in a very pleasant room overlooking the canal and was exceptionally good - a great variety of dishes and constant replenishment of them. Our host was very efficient and friendly. Great value for money - we would definitely stay there again!
