Fabulous hotel, both sophisticated and friendly. We were lucky enough to have a room overlooking the canal which was lovely. Whilst there, we took advantage of the free guided walk of Brugge, offered by the hotel each Monday, which was excellent.
Enjoyed Brugge very much, took a day trip with Quasimodo tours out to Ypres and Flanders’ Fields, very moving experience. Highly recommend Bhavani ( Indian) , Ryad (Moroccan) and Olive Tree (Greek) restaurants.

What a lovely hotel! Very peaceful and yet so near the main square, so peaceful that you thought you were the only ones in the hotel, until breakfast time! Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. A great hotel.

My daughter and I spent three days at this hotel and had a lovely time. The hotel staff were especially charming and helpful, and our room overlooking one of the canals could not have been nicer. We were only a little disappointed not to have been placed in the older part of the hotel - the advantage for us was that everything worked beautifully in our room, and it was very spacious and well-appointed. Breakfast is not to be missed - you will want to bring a book and enjoy a relaxing hour or so in the lovely garden room.

My wife and I spent three wonderful days and nights at this great hotel. The staff went overboard to assist us with our every need-recommendations for dinner, directions and bookings. The location is perfect- on a lovely quiet canal within walking distance of everything-just off the Markt Square. The room was spacious and well appointed, Ours had a private patio. I hope to return there again.

My boyfriend and I booked at Die Swaene as our first choice, the Pand Hotel was fully booked. After much research I agree with all the other reviews that this is a great hotel. We were made to feel very welcome as soon as we arrived by Stephanie and Fred, who gave us city maps, discount cards and restaurant guides. We had already booked in the Petite Patron (fondue restaurant, thoroughly recommended) and were interested to see what the locals thought of it. Fred gave an honest opinion that it was better to go for the meat dishes as they were more substantial and he was absolutely right. We popped back to the hotel after dinner (coats unecessary as weather so beautiful) and were given some great recommendations for late bars.

The hotel itself is tastefully decorated, only slight criticism is we were in room 42 which is a ground floor superior room. Whilst this is nice as we had a terrace it also meant we right next to the door to the pool which is on a spring. This meant we heard the door banging from around 6am.

In summary I recommend Die Swaene, you really couldn't ask for more in terms of location.

My husband and I spent a 2 night Valentines break at this charming hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. On arrival they parked our car for us in the carpark just across the canal and took our bags up to our room while we were given a short tour around the hotel. Our room was on the top floor overlooking the canal, as we requested. The breakfast room was spacious and the first morning we were lucky to get a table in the conservatory where it was lovely and light. They had fulfilled our request for soya milk without question. One afternoon we had coffee brought to us in the ballroom, which was a magnificent room, and they didn't even charge us (may have been an oversight although we did point it out to them on settling our bill). We had the offer of a 2 hour free guided tour around the city but we decided not to take up the opportunity - unfortunately it was freezing cold while we were there and we had to keep escaping into tea rooms to thaw out! All in all we had a lovely stay here and would recommend it to others. We stayed in a Deluxe Double Room (Canal View) and our room was very nice, of average size, and the bathroom was sparkling new. We did poke our heads around an open door while it was was being cleaned - this was presumably a suite because it was much bigger and more luxurious. The character of the hotel and the friendliness of the staff were our overriding memories.

We stayed two nights in this lovely charming hotel and spent a very relaxing time, enjoying the secrets of Bruges, the excellent food of the Pergola Kaffee (on the other side of the canal), the memorable breakfeast buffet and the calm atmosphere of the hotel. The hotel staff is just great, efficient and helpful. The hotel is also well decorated and benefits from a zen-type swimming pool with sauna, which is quite exceptional in view of its location (i.e. in the historical center of Bruges - 2 minutes walk from the Grand Place). In a nutshell, Die Swaene is the place to go if you want to spend a romantic and relaxing time in Bruges and to eat good food in its restaurant.
