“Short break to Bruges”
Reviewed 8 December 2013

My wife and I recently had a short break of 3 nights and stayed in this lovely hotel ....right on the canal side and less than 5 minutes walk from the centre of the old town.

We had requested a quiet room in the main building ( not in the annexe across the canal) and had an excellent room at the back of the hotel- very well furished and spacious with a nice large bathroom( we had also requested a bath (quite a few of the rooms have shower only).

The breakfasts were fantastic....everything you could want from a very extensive buffet with choices of eggs etc available on request ( no extra charge). We had breakfast included in our room rate ( 2 night or more stay rate) but believe for one night breakfast is extra.

Staff were excellent- very attentive, friendly and efficient.

Would certainly stay here again and would recommend,

David

Room Tip: Rooms in the main building at the back are quiet but you lose the canal view if you reqiest this opt...

Situated at the border of the canal in the middel of the historical center of the city, the hotel is a perfect base to explore the city. The hotel offers spacious rooms in rococo style, cosy rooms with velvet drapes, some with a fire place. Spotless bathroom with all kinds of amenities.
The staff is very friendly and always available. A fantastic breakfast buffet with a wide range of goodies provides you with the nessesary calories for walk through history.

My partner and I staying in room number 76, which has a magical view over the canal. I could have sat in the window sill and looked out all day! The room itself is romantic decorated with deep reds and velvet, it was older but very comfortable and felt we had stepped back in time, in a good way. The service was excellent and if we came back I would definitely stay here again.

If you expect to get what the hotel promises in its website, you will be in for a shock. The room is run down in desperate need of repair and renovation in places. The bathroom heater did not worked properly. The furniture is dented. The restaurant is presumptuous but unfortunately does not deliver either. Thus, find another hotel if you want a romantic weekend.

This might be the point indeed where it still felt as being charming and stylish. It is still not old fashion but that is not to far away.

However,
- breakfast makes up for everything: a very fine, good, excellent breakfast buffet with an extensive choice and last but not least very fresh and delicious prepared small portions
- Location is perfect to visit Brugge
- Parking location in a distance of 30 meter in the center of Brugge
- Great service

As the restaurant is located in a seperate building, I did not include evaluation in this text.

This was our first visit to Bruges and we couldn't have been more central so it was perfect. We got there and parked the car then didn't need it till we left. You walk out the hotel and can get on a canal trip about 50 yards from the entrance, you really are right in the middle of everything.
Hotel was a bit on the pricey side costing us 180 Euro (with parking) and this didn't include breakfast - that was an extra 20 euro each. But I understand it is a nice boutique hotel and we didn't mind paying it as it was a beautiful. After a day of wondering round we have a little swim in the pool, it was a bit cold so didn't stay in long but the pool area was nice and clean and well kept. The gentlemen on reception insisted on walking over to our car with us to get our bags and couldn't have been more helpful. The hotel also have a free walking tour each day which is great.
Would definitely recommend this hotel as a treat for a few nights.

We stayed for 2 nights in September. We appreciated the parking which can be difficult in Bruges and we didn't even have to bring our luggage in, all taken care of. The welcome was great - we were shown where everything was and taken to our room on the first floor. We had a standard room and it was well appointed with a large bathroom. We love the fact it had his 'n' hers sinks. Th room was quiet and cosy. Breakfast was buffet continental style, though fruit juice, hot drinks and a choice of eggs were brought to us on order. Perfectly located for exploring Bruges we thought the room rate was good value for the city. We had a lovely relaxed Sunday lunch in the hotel restaurant on the terrace overlooking the canal. The hotel had old fashioned charm and we would stay again.
