“Great Location and a Little quirky”
Reviewed 22 December 2013 via mobile

The location and the service Quality are the two main high points of this very centrally located Small Luxury Hotel

The rooms are comfortable and spacious though the bathrooms and facilities are very dated, but because it is Brügge that somehow seems to be more in keeping and therefore less important. But i do think they are overpriced considering. A great Test of a luxury Hotel is that you actively want to Return to your rooms because it is so special. That wasnt the case with XXX although the rooms are luxurious by many Central European hotel standards

The small number of staff is compensated for by their personal service and their attention to detail although little things such as having umbrellas that guests can use seem to have been overlooked

Breakfast was Buffet style and excellent and the room was inviting with an option to sit inside or in a conservatory. Dinner is available in a restaurant that is over the small canal although still part of the Hotel. Quality was excellent, service good and a fair selection on the wine list though the prices were steep and there was nothing available by the glass

As a small luxury Hotel it is fine. Its location is excellent but i think If rooms were available at the more luxurious Duc de Bourgogne Hotel (200m always) then i would prefer to stay there as a first option.

I stayed at this hotel last weekend for 2 nights and had a fantastic experience!

The hotel is really cosy- perfect for this time of year and really warm coming in from the freezing cold weather! All of the staff were extremely helpful during the entirety of our stay and were always more than happy to help or answer our questions.

The hotel is in a fantastic location on the canal and within a stones throw of the main square! The rooms were very clean and full of character but a little tired in places- especially the bathrooms but this didn't ruin our experience at all. The breakfast was to die for with an extensive choice of fruit, cereals, meat, fish, eggs, sweets and pastries- just delicious and the breakfast room was beautiful too and very atmospheric too!

All in all this is a great hotel in the perfect location for the centre of the town. Just right for a Christmas visit to beautiful Bruges!

My wife and I recently had a short break of 3 nights and stayed in this lovely hotel ....right on the canal side and less than 5 minutes walk from the centre of the old town.

We had requested a quiet room in the main building ( not in the annexe across the canal) and had an excellent room at the back of the hotel- very well furished and spacious with a nice large bathroom( we had also requested a bath (quite a few of the rooms have shower only).

The breakfasts were fantastic....everything you could want from a very extensive buffet with choices of eggs etc available on request ( no extra charge). We had breakfast included in our room rate ( 2 night or more stay rate) but believe for one night breakfast is extra.

Staff were excellent- very attentive, friendly and efficient.

Would certainly stay here again and would recommend,

David

Room Tip: Rooms in the main building at the back are quiet but you lose the canal view if you reqiest this opt...

Situated at the border of the canal in the middel of the historical center of the city, the hotel is a perfect base to explore the city. The hotel offers spacious rooms in rococo style, cosy rooms with velvet drapes, some with a fire place. Spotless bathroom with all kinds of amenities.
The staff is very friendly and always available. A fantastic breakfast buffet with a wide range of goodies provides you with the nessesary calories for walk through history.

My partner and I staying in room number 76, which has a magical view over the canal. I could have sat in the window sill and looked out all day! The room itself is romantic decorated with deep reds and velvet, it was older but very comfortable and felt we had stepped back in time, in a good way. The service was excellent and if we came back I would definitely stay here again.

If you expect to get what the hotel promises in its website, you will be in for a shock. The room is run down in desperate need of repair and renovation in places. The bathroom heater did not worked properly. The furniture is dented. The restaurant is presumptuous but unfortunately does not deliver either. Thus, find another hotel if you want a romantic weekend.

This might be the point indeed where it still felt as being charming and stylish. It is still not old fashion but that is not to far away.

However,
- breakfast makes up for everything: a very fine, good, excellent breakfast buffet with an extensive choice and last but not least very fresh and delicious prepared small portions
- Location is perfect to visit Brugge
- Parking location in a distance of 30 meter in the center of Brugge
- Great service

As the restaurant is located in a seperate building, I did not include evaluation in this text.
