“Gorgeous hotel - perfect location”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

The photos looked lovely and we weren't disappointed on arrival. What a stunning hotel. I travelled with my two daughters to celebrate my eldest's 30th birthday. They had left some fabulous Belgian chocolates on the bed for my daughter on the bed. The room was beautiful and very comfy. We were right on the canal and were lucky enough to be there when Bruges Festival on the Canals was on which was very entertaining. We celebrated on the first night with a meal at the hotel restaurant which is over the other side of the road and was excellent. The service and food were both awesome. Breakfast in the conservatory was fabulous. It was my second trip to Bruges and I would love to return some day and would definitely book here again.

Delightful few days at this hotel. Perfect location, within easy walk and away from noise and bustle. Attention to almost all detail, but no in-room coffee/tea (although available as room service), and iffy shower arrangement. Any such minor defects well outweighed by friendly/efficient staff and abundant breakfast. Canal-view room a huge plus. Would recommend.

We had a big, well appointed room on the canal. Staff was extremely chipper. Breakfast good. Our room included a two hour walking tour with an educated enthusiastic local guide.
Restaurant closed mid week but plenty of places to eat in Bruges.

This hotel is just perfect place to stay in a picturesque Brugge. Don't forget to take your camera with you, both hotel and city is worth of carrying the camera.

The hotel is small and the athmosphare and decor is nice and positively different. The breakfast room is unique and the service is great.

Don't forget to try the sauna and swimming pool. We enjoyed that a lot.

Definitely going back to this hotel, if I am travelling back to Brugge someday.

The Good : lovely location, excellent & friendly staff, very good breakfast.

The Bad : our room was somewhat "tired" and although an upgrade to "Superior", not up to the standard on the website.

The Very Unfortunate : our one night stay was ruined by extraordinarily noisy people in the room next door. When we went to bed just around 11.30pm, we asked them to pipe down, which they did for awhile, but we were woken up by loud talking about an hour or so later & what sounded like furniture being constantly moved around ! Despite a couple more complaints - each resulting in a lull - this went on till almost 6am & left us exhausted for our day of sightseeing in lovely Bruges. The hotel receptionist said we should have found the night porter, but given that the hotel appeared less than full, why put a very young couple (actually, I think there were three of them) next door to an older couple ? I happened to be in Reception when they turned up and asked for a room, so I witnessed their check-in process.

The Bottom Line : would we stay there again ? Hmmmm... in a better room, maybe; same room, no.

Stayed here with my sister for a 2 night break and I can only describe this hotel as quirky. In the reception, there are various showcases with odd exhibits which may or may not be related to the hotel. We were checked in and shown to our room via the beautiful lounge where we were advised we could sit and have tea, coffee or a glass of wine. Our room was large and had all the facilities we required apart from drawers! We had a lovely view of the canal, with little window boxes of flowering plants. At the time of our stay, the swimming pool was not open and it didn’t look like it would be opening again. This hotel is split in two buildings on opposite sides of the canal and it seems to me that perhaps the other part of the hotel is far better equipped. I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it to anyone else to stay but clearly there are a lot of people who feel differently

Room Tip: We had room 46 in the original building overlooking the canal - Very spacious but no drawers

I booked at the hotel and confirmed an air-conditioned room and the Size of 60 SQM. We received the 2 rooms and when asking about the A/C he said it is not working since 2 days and the room size was not 60SQM at all. It is my first time staying at small luxury hotel brands www.slh.com and the last time. Regarding services the hotel can provide, of course you have to forget it, even toothpaste and tooth brush is not available.
