“Non-stop tour boat and club/pub noise from 10.00 a.m. to midnight”
Reviewed 13 August 2013

I am amazed that no-one else has posted about the dreadful noise problems with this hotel's location.
We had on the basis of the reviews, booked 3 nights but left yesterday after 1 night. Canalside rooms have non-stop noise from tour boat loudspeakers, the boats pass right under the windows and you are forced to hear every word of their commentary and watch the occupants taking photos of you standing in your room! This goes on every few minutes all day long, with departures from the nearby jetty! Reception assured us the racket generally stopped at 6.00 in the evening and then we would have 'silence'. Well, it stopped around 6.30 and we looked forward to a peaceful night on our return from dinner. Not so! Now the pub/club opposite took over, shouting and singing through to well after midnight. I went down to reception to complain. Obviously they were well used to this, immediately claiming they would call the police. I don't think for a minute that they did. For this, we paid €350. Added to this, Room 10, where we were, is adjacent to a public drinks area and canalside balcony, so you can imagine that didn't help. We couldnt even open the windows because of the incessant noise, although it was very warm. By the way, if you really still want to stay at this place, the windows, if they are opened, are very dangerous indeed if you have children with you.
I notice that other reviewers say the streetside rooms can be noisy too, so I am very glad we made the decision not to accept the hotel's offer to move us to a non-canalside room. The only thing I would say in mitigation is that this same problem of non-stop engine noise and loudspeaker racket from passing tourboats will probably to a greater or lesser extent affect every canalside central hotel. With this hotel, it's intolerable.

Room Tip: Avoid the canalside and Room 10 in particular - rooms will be noisy because of the tour boats louds...

This hotel is perfectly located to be near everything worthwhile.I can also recommend there half breakfast that was not expensive and worth every cent of it. The spread was first class and even chocolates were available and the view hard to beat with the swans swimming by. BUT they need air conditions or at least some fans in the rooms. We hit a heat wave in Brugge and battle to sleep at night. This Hotel can also upgrade there towels for the price they are charging a day, but i will still recommend this Hotel. You need to stay there to experience the ambiance . You just see this Hotels in movies and i am happy to have experience it myself!

A wonderful hotel with all of the staff being very attentive and caring, nothing was too much trouble. A beautiful and relaxing setting to enjoy a glass of wine whilst watching the Swans in the water late into the evening. We will definitely be returning. Also some very interesting shops nearby.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel July 27-29 and it was one of the best experiences in a European hotel we've ever had. To start off, the reservation was easy to do online and we actually got the most charming room in the hotel, I think, on the top floor with the vaulted ceiling. This is actually the room we saw online, and, for once, the actual room was as good as the photos. Old world fairytale charm! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with terrific directions and recommendations. Most rooms, including ours, are air-conditioned, but I understand the first floor is not, until next year, and it was hot that weekend, so a word to the wise. The location couldn't be better and we discovered that the hotel's canal side is famous and is in all the iconic photos of Brugge. Many restaurants close by and the Market is about two blocks away. No minibar and the safe is easily moved so I wouldn't use it. There is an add-on breakfast for 25 euros which, while pricey, was bountiful. They also have drinks and snacks in the evening on the terrace. There is no minibar or coffee/tea facility in the room, but many places for coffee outside. Plenty of electrical outlets for all our gadgets. Overall, a wonderful experience!

Room Tip: Charming Room 35 Is at the roof peak and has windows on the front and back. A bit noisy, but it quie...

celebrated my husband's 30th birthday in bruges and the hotel was perfect. the staff were helpful and attentive, and saw to our every need. we were very impressed by the level of service. found the first room we stayed in a little noisy and the manager very kindly upgraded us to a quieter room. we were lucky to get to enjoy room 30 overlooking the canal and the views were so good, it seemed almost a waste to leave the room to visit the town. had read some of the reviews and other guests seemed to mind that there was no in-room mini-bar. however, the room came with complimentary water, wine glasses and corkscrew for the wine we picked up in town. also, the night manager prepared beer and nibbles for us to enjoy in the charming drawing room or on the terrace.

the only two things to take note of are
1. not all the rooms have air-conditioning and sleeping with the window opening on the side street was noisy
2. the hotel charges EUR25/night for parking in their secure garage a short walk from the hotel. however, at the public garages in town, it is EUR8 for 24h.

on the whole, we had an enjoyable stay and would recommend the hotel for its great location, impeccable service and beautifully done up hotel.

Room Tip: book a room with air-conditioning. the canal facing rooms are gorgeous. we really liked room 30.

We stayed 2 nights in this iconic small hotel on the canal in the center of Brugge. The staff was the most attentive of any in our experience. Thier resaturant recommendations were spot on, and they always got us reservations. "How can we help" must be in thier genes. Such a lovely town and lovely place to stay in it. I hope we can return soon!

The Hotel is perfectly situated, the staff very attentive and service and little touches excellent.
This is a great two night stay in Bruges, however would have liked tea making facilities in the room.
They have private parking if you drive, but this needs to be booked in advance.
Overall, very enjoyable.

Room Tip: the top floor rooms are a little small.
