“BLISSFUL EXPERIENCE IN 'THE CROSS OF BURGUNDY HOTEL' IN BRUGES”
Reviewed 1 September 2013

we stayed in this hotel on sun 25th aug for 3 nights - What a wonderful experience we had. The staff were fantastic and very welcoming, the room was decorated beautifully with a very comfortable bed and the bathroom was big with lovely cosmetics and a great hairdryer. We had a view of the canal from our window to the right. There are only 16 rooms and this means the hotel is quiet, its 1 minute walk to the Markt - the centre of town and around the corner from the most photographed place in Bruges - Rosary Quay - in fact the hotel is part of this famous photo.
We highly recommend this hotel as not only an excellent place to stay and a great nights sleep but also because it EXCEEDED our expectations - THANK YOU FROM US

Room Tip: book directly with the hotel - the price was the same as all the booking websites but i felt we got...

We spent two nights in this hotel last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is in a really central location overlooking the canal. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We asked for restaurant recommendations and they gave us a specially prepared sheet with lots of suggestions divided into different categories which made it very easy to choose a good restaurant. They kept our luggage after we checked out until we were ready to leave for the airport.
Our room was beautiful with a really comfortable bed. The bathroom was very spacious with a great shower.
We didn't have breakfast in the hotel as it was quite expensive. We ate at La Belle Vue at the corner of Markt and Vlamingstraat and got a really good breakfast (orange juice, tea/coffee, bacon and eggs, croissant and lots of really fresh bread) for €7.50
A fabulous hotel!

We visited this hotel last year and it was truly wonderful. We had a room on the top floor with a view just looking towards the canal and it was wonderfully clean and just beautiful. The hotel was so gorgeous to look at and as it was Christmas they had their decorations out which were lovely. The staff were brilliant and we got engaged just outside their main door by the canal late one night and the staff made us hot chocolates when we came in. In the morning we had the breakfast there which they gave us champagne which was really sweet. I can see us returning here many times and the location was really central too. There is just nothing I could fault about this place - thanks for the memories!

We chose this Hotel as it was used for the film In Bruges which is one of my favorites. This was the second time we had stayed and the experience was equally as good as the first time we stayed. Treated like V.I.P`s from the minute we arrived to the minute we left, My car was parked for me in a secure location, The rooms are superb with Ralph Lauren bedding and superb decor through out the hotel especially the Louis Vuitton chests which are stunning.

Just spent a night, unfortunately, wish I could have stayed longer. Service is amazing. The hotel is one of the most famous landmarks in Bruges. The hotel is so beautiful and the rooms are wonderfully comfortable. It is full of character and charm and near to the centre. I couldn't find fault with this hotel a little expensive but well worth it. Will definitely be going back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a canal view.

My partner and I stayed here back in June and loved the place, the location just a short walk from the town square could not be beaten. We stayed in room 36 (the hotel only has 18 rooms I believe) and were located on the third floor. The room (as pictured several times in the photo gallery) was delightful. It was a hot few days in Bruges but the air conditioning worked very nicely and quietly. With the windows open we could hear the canal tours, church bells and the clippy cloppy of the horses, some might call this noise, to us it was the ambience of a city. When you stay in the heart of a place it is only common sense to expect some noise. The staff were helpful and unobtrusive which suited us perfectly.

The hotel is not overly expensive when you consider the luxery and location that you get, certainly it was worth spending that extra bit for this hotel than settling for a cheaper option that wouldn't have lived up to this.

This hotel, and the buildings adjacent to it, are the one of the most famous landmarks in Bruges. Why you would stay anywhere else (save for budget), are beyond me. The hotel is stunning from the outside, and the decor inside is in keeping with the exterior. We stayed in room 21, canal view, c£250 per night over an August weekend for our first wedding anniversary. The rooms aren't huge, but then look at the exterior, do you expect them to be?! Our room did have air conditioning. The bed was very very comfortable, flat screen TV for those moments you're not out sight seeing, electronic mini safe, hair dryer, and plenty of wardrobe space. One criticism of the room would be, no mini fridge or tea facilities, which would have been handy, although the staff were happy to get us a drink whenever we were in the hotel and needed refreshment. The bathroom was very good, albeit decked out in 'European Marble', walk in shower, big sink are and mirror, hair dryer. The staff, on all occasions, were exceptional, whether at check in, during the day, the late night porter, always happy to help, book a table at a restaurant, or offer some advice. We drove over from Bristol, and so needed parking. I read somewhere parking at the hotel was limited and €25 a day, so we found the nearest 'Interparking' car park, two streets away, its called Pandreitje Interparking, and you can park there for €8.70 a day (card payment accepted), we parked there for 3 days (its only €20 for a lost ticket if you're feeling cheeky). You don't need to book, its the equivalent of an underground NCP in the UK. Now the noise... We were there on a Reiefeesten canal festival weekend (Fri-Mon), and so Bruges was busy. During the day, the canal tours boats did pass the hotel (10-6), ad in the evening (6-12pm) there were performances relating to the history of Bruges in the canal outside. But... We weren't in the hotel from 10am until 6pm, and then from 7pm until Midnight, as we were out enjoying Bruges, so those complaining of noise, were obviously 'doing it wrong'! In addition, no restaurant in the hotel, but then Bruges has some fantastic restaurants, so even if they did have a restaurant, only the unadventurous would eat there. Likewise, plenty of great Cafe's to grab a breakfast, so don't feel compelled to book breakfast in the hotel. Gingerbread Cafe, is particularly good, family run, and super friendly. Book this hotel, get out and explore Bruges, and when you buy a postcard, fridge magnet or painting, you can say to your friends 'see the building with the twin roofs, thats the magical place we stayed'. Enjoy.
