“Luxury and the most incredible view”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

This place is not cheap - let's get that out in the open. However, luxury comes at a price and this place delivers luxury. We booked direct with the hotel (which got us the best price and allowed us to ask for a room overlooking the canal, but not on the top floor - other reviews suggest that the highest rooms have limited headroom and I'm 6'5"!).
Upon arrival, we pulled up on the street outside the hotel, our bags were taken in and the car taken away to secure parking (which is a 5 mins walk away). We were then shown to our beautiful room (number 21?) and offered a complimentary drink.
The room was a good size very luxurious with views across 2 x canals - the view is stunning.
The bathroom was quite small with a shower over the bath; Everything was finished in marble.
Location is excellent with all the major attractions less than 5 minutes walk away.
Final comment is that other reviewers mention the noise of canal boat tours. During our stay, these didn't start early in the morning or finish late at night - we were never bothered by noise.

Room Tip: A canal view is a must. Room 21 was great.

First visit to brugge. It was a birthday pressie for my mum. I couldn't have chosen a better hotel. First class in everyway ,centrally located with a very short walk to the main square. Brugge has so many wonderful things to see and do. too many restaurants to choose from and were recommended maximillions near the lake of love, [ fab food.] Staff at the hotel were absolutely fantastic, helpful and nothing was a problem always greeted with a smile and we never once had to say our room number as they remembered. The room was very clean and towels were replaced every day. would definitely recommend and will be returning very soon. thankyou very much for a wonderful weekend. This was my first visit to Bruges -Belgium - there was so much magic in & around Bruges from the cobblestones in and around this beautiful town to the water canal with all the motor boats showing people this wonderful town or the horse drawn carriages driving people thru the narrow streets
The great little shops selling - chocolates / biscuits / tapestry with beautiful pillow cases or lace tablecloths just to name a few
Restaurants everywhere & the Beer - wow
This town is a must to add to your travels
Hotel was one of the best I have been to - service was excellent - rooms were great - bathroom was very big - lift was small but got us up & down
Location was perfect right by the boat canal - but no car parking at hotel

I had made a to do list of places I wanted to see in Bruges from photographs I had seen on Trip Adviser and unbeknown to me this beautiful little hotel was actually part of one of the views I wanted to see, noted as the top most photographed view of the canal. I just loved that.
The hotel is not far from the railway station 5 minutes by taxi.
After checking in we were taken to our room by an extremely helpful and very friendly gentleman on the desk. All the staff at this hotel are lovely and nothing is too much trouble. Our room was simply gorgeous; so pretty with views right down onto the canal. The bathroom was amazing all marble tiled with an absolutely fabulous shower. Also the rooms get cleaned incredibly quickly, whatever time we went back to the hotel they were always finished. The breakfast room is wonderfully decorated, with wonderful views of the canal. There is a buffet with an assortment of fresh fruits, yogurts, cereals, cheese and meats. Also fabulous pastries and bread. You can also order a cooked breakfast, including freshly made toast and homemade preserves. This hotel is in such an amazing position, everything you would want to see is in easy walking distance, so you can forget about maps, just walk out of the door and enjoy getting lost in the magic of Bruges. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant but there are so many wonderful places to eat right on your doorstep, including the very lovely restaurant owned by the hotel and a fabulous little Italian right across the road . . . just in case you get fed up with having two many delicious frites and waffles. I just loved everything about this little hotel.

We booked this hotel mostly based on TripAdvisor ratings for a one night stay on our European honeymoon and we were not disappointed. I knew based on the pictures I had seen that I would love this little hotel, and boy was I right. We walked down the little alleyway to the entrance straight from the train station, and while we fell in love with Brugge the moment we arrived, entering this little gem of a hotel sealed the deal. We were walked up to our room on the third floor and were speechless upon entering it. Everything was amazing! We had a window overlooking the canal where the swans would swim by, a gorgeous room with a vintage LV trunk at the foot of our bed, a spacious and luxurious bathroom with robes and slippers, and the staff were so attentive and helpful throughout our stay. We were blown away by the champagne breakfast buffet and the coffee service delivered to our room. My only regret is that we only planned for one night in Bruges at this gorgeous hotel. I want to come back and stay for a week! The icing on the cake was when we consulted our guidebook for attractions in Bruges, and one was the "postcard perfect canal view", we realized that the canal they were speaking of? Was the one with our hotel smack dab in the middle! If you're looking for a genuine Bruges experience that is almost straight out of a romantic medieval fairytale? Book a stay at the Relais Bourgondisch. You won't regret it!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a canal view!

The best thing about this hotel is its position, right on the canal in the centre of the tourist area, dozens of photos per minute being taken of it. BUT it is a bijou hotel and this can mean all sorts of things. I had booked a special week as a treat, no expense spared, but at over £300 per day without breakfast or food we were really let down.
Start with the room (their best) small, badly lit, difficult to read in bed, no room for an armchair to relax, just a window seat overlooking the canal. Free water and Wi-Fi but no refrigerator. Bathroom door could not stay closed (how did previous occupants manage?) but they did provide a quick botch job to hold it closed. There is no English TV available, and the bath dripped incessantly. A large chest was at the foot of the bed. No real use and it took a lot of the available floor space. No other room was available. We were given a free breakfast in compensation for the b'room door but this was worth £19 each, for a continental meal, the service to offer a cooked meal was so slow that we were on our way out. There were no other occupants of the dining room at the time. Nobody offered us champagne. Our room was always serviced quickly, early in the morning and I am sure was clean, but it was so dark that I really could not comment.

Room Tip: Maybe choose another hotel.
