Positives were:

Good location
Romantic decor
Very friendly staff.

Downsides were:
Can appreciate hotel wouldn't want to replace feature windows with double glazing but they should install secondary double glazing as there was so much it noise coming from the street both morning and night. (we stayed in room 15 - street side - perhaps canel side is less noisy)
Due to no air con it was nessarsary to leave window open which made the noise issue even worse.
The bath is both shorter and narrower than a standard bath and the shower is in the bath so having a shower feels very cramped. I am only a size 12 and I found it awkward so I think a larger person would definately struggle.

I found 3 insect type bites on my body and my husband 1 on waking up in bed the second morning - I did email the hotel to advise it may be worth them checking the beds.
Definately has some 4 star features but overall I would say fit more within the 3 star superior bracket.

Bruges is just lovely though -enjoy!!

This really is a gem of a hotel. Its location is perfect, very close to the main square but in a very quiet location, indeed you will often see the hotel featured on postcards or in one case on the front of a guidebook, as it features in one of "the" picture perfect views of Bruges and is one of only a handful of wooden buildings left in Bruges.

Inside, this small hotel is exquisitely furnished with genuine works of art on the wall. The rooms are simple but well appointed with modern bathrooms. You pay a lot extra for canal views - not necessarily worth it as you'll be spending a lot of your time looking at canals during the daytime.

As other reviews testify, the staff at the hotel are without exception very friendly and helpful. The hotel does have a linked restaurant about 10 minutes walk away - definitely worth trying once - but staff will also recommend other restaurants close by. Breakfasts are in a small room overlooking the canal - a bit pricey at 21 euros but if you're staying there then treat yourself to it. A lovely buffet which includes cooked eggs and even a glass of champagne if you want it.

It's about 10 minutes by taxi from the train station and the hotel can also arrange a taxi when you leave. The hotel is a few paces down an alley of the main road, so you'll be dropped off on the corner.

There really is nothing to fault in this fabulous hotel. Can't recommend it highly enough - perfect for a romantic break, would certainly work with children but perhaps not the best choice for a family stay.

Our 3rd time and 3rd hotel in Bruges. Next time we will be back at the same hotel. Excellent location, first class service, brilliant atmosphere and great rooms. We had two standard rooms next to each other and for a family arrangement it couldn't have been better. Excellent breakfast too. This small hotel deserves it wide acclaim.

We booked this hotel based on the reviews on Tripadvisor and the photos and weren't disappointed. The hotel is charming and very well located in the heart of the prettiest part of Bruges. From the start and throughout our stay the staff could not have been more helpful, friendly and attentive. The hotel is cosy and comfortable and we could not have hoped for a more beautiful setting. We would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to staying again.

Brilliant hotel, brilliant staff and brilliant location.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough. My husband and i stayed here for 4 nights on a recent trip to Brugge. i have worked in hotels for many years and the service at this hotel is the best i have ever experienced. Nothing was too much trouble for the very helpful and charming team of staff. The location is spot on and the rooms are cosy and luxurious at the same time.

A fab hotel in a very pretty city. If you are going to Brugge head straight for this hotel and you will not be disappointed.
