Owner description: The most important of Bruges' towers stands 83 metres tall. It houses, amongst other things, a carillon with 47 melodious bells. In the reception area, waiting visitors can discover all kinds of interesting information about the history and working of this unique world-heritage protected belfry. Those who take on the challenge of climbing the tower can pause for a breather on the way up in the old treasury, where the city's charters, seal and public funds were kept during the Middle Ages, and also at the level of the impressive clock or in the carillonneur's chamber. Finally, after a tiring 366 steps, your efforts will be rewarded with a breath-taking and unforgettable panoramic view of Bruges and her surroundings.

“Not for the faint hearted”
Reviewed 8 December 2013

Lots and lots of stairs, winding stairs take you to the top of the belfry with amazing views across the city. Do this on a good blue sky day....

“A musical view”
Reviewed 7 December 2013

Get a great view of the city and of the inner workings of the impressive musical clock. Lots of steps which are narrow in places so passing people going the opposite direction can take time but there are exhibitions on the way you can stop off at whilst you wait. Because of limits on the number of people who can be in the tower at any one time expect to have to queue to get in.

“Expensive climb but all forgotten at top.”
Reviewed 7 December 2013 via mobile

Age bracket discount. Make sure you take ID if you qualify for age discounts as they don't take your word for it.

Bit pricey to go up some stairs but everything in a tourist hotspot is expensive.

Over 300 steep, narrow, uneven, twisty stairs that you have to pass people going the other direction on. There are a few wider spots but on a busy day, I can imagine it being very difficult.

Not really suitable for anyone unsteady on their pins or anyone too unfit/with health problems as climb is hard work. BUT so very worth the climb! View is spectacular!

“Worth the Climb”
Reviewed 6 December 2013

Went to Bruges in November with friends and having seen "In Bruges" felt it was only right to climb the belfry. It is an exhilarating climb with some very steep and narrow stairs and you have to negotiate past people on their way down. Worth it when you get to the top for the fantastic views.

“Worth a visit!”
Reviewed 5 December 2013

An enjoyable experience at a modest price. Make sure you allow good time as the ascent and descent can take a while because you are constantly crossing people on the narrow stairs; it's the same way up and down! Also, if you want to take photos at the top then use a smaller lens, my DSLR lens just fit through the safety mesh to get an unobscured picture.
