Owner description: The most important of Bruges' towers stands 83 metres tall. It houses, amongst other things, a carillon with 47 melodious bells. In the reception area, waiting visitors can discover all kinds of interesting information about the history and working of this unique world-heritage protected belfry. Those who take on the challenge of climbing the tower can pause for a breather on the way up in the old treasury, where the city's charters, seal and public funds were kept during the Middle Ages, and also at the level of the impressive clock or in the carillonneur's chamber. Finally, after a tiring 366 steps, your efforts will be rewarded with a breath-taking and unforgettable panoramic view of Bruges and her surroundings.

“Worth the wait & steep climb!”
Reviewed 11 December 2013

The queuing wasn't fun (Sunday afternoon in xmas market season!) but there is no way round this as only 70 people can be in the tower at one time as it is very narrow and only one way up & down (interesting at times trying to pass people!). The view is well worth the climb but don't attempt it with small children or if you may struggle going round and round and keeping going, it isn't the easiest!

“Loved the carillon bells!”
Reviewed 11 December 2013

No queues at 11 am on a weekday. It wasn't too hard to climb up to the top - there are resting places! I thought that the bells were really interesting and liked the views from the top. However, the safety mesh does impede photography somewhat.
Also enjoyed listening to the bells playing Christmas tunes.

“get there early!”
Reviewed 10 December 2013

having waited over an hour for this we were hoping it would be worth it. The views are amazing, the experience of climbing up is quite fun (if a little terrifying) and the little room stops along the way are nice. I think it is a little overpriced, and the caging on the windows make it difficult to take pictures and kind of make it a bit ugly up there. I realise it's for safety reasons but I'd hope there would be something a bit nicer they could use considering the price at least, they must be raking it in!

Very majestic building, and easy t look round, although the 366 steps up the belfry might discourage a lot of people

“Not for the faint hearted”
Reviewed 8 December 2013

Lots and lots of stairs, winding stairs take you to the top of the belfry with amazing views across the city. Do this on a good blue sky day....
