Owner description: The most important of Bruges' towers stands 83 metres tall. It houses, amongst other things, a carillon with 47 melodious bells. In the reception area, waiting visitors can discover all kinds of interesting information about the history and working of this unique world-heritage protected belfry. Those who take on the challenge of climbing the tower can pause for a breather on the way up in the old treasury, where the city's charters, seal and public funds were kept during the Middle Ages, and also at the level of the impressive clock or in the carillonneur's chamber. Finally, after a tiring 366 steps, your efforts will be rewarded with a breath-taking and unforgettable panoramic view of Bruges and her surroundings.

“Beautiful views.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 May 2014

It was a great climb to the top to enjoy the wonderful views over the town.
Better to get in line soon as the queue tends to build up. The inside of the Belfry was also quaint and full of character and the climb was well worth it.

“Beautiful views”

Few stairs to climb for amazing views. Reasonably priced at 6 euro for 25 and under.

The line went fairly quickly. It's only allowed 70 people in the tower at one time so probably does depend how fast others come down.

Worth the effort for the view alone. Pick a clear day! Look around the music level where they change the bell tunes on a regular basis.

“Long wait but great views.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 May 2014

Due to the safety constraint on the tiny tower stairs, it is inevitable that you will have to queue to get into this attraction. However the views are amazing and if you have the patience you will be rewarded. For myself a bonus was standing in the location where the TV series The White Queen was filmed. Another very interesting point is the musical bells which play in the tower. Listen as you wait among other lovely pieces, you may pick out the WW1 songs Roses of Picardy, and It's a long was to Tipperary. A very moving tribute.

“Brilliant..”

If you don't mind heights and a few stairs (unlike the missus) get yourself to the top of the tower. The views from the top are the best you will get in the Bruges area. You can see the canals and many of the churches in the area. We were lucky to go on a clear day which made it all the better. If you are a fan of the Colin Farrell film 'In Bruges' then going to the tower is a must!
