Owner description: The most important of Bruges' towers stands 83 metres tall. It houses, amongst other things, a carillon with 47 melodious bells. In the reception area, waiting visitors can discover all kinds of interesting information about the history and working of this unique world-heritage protected belfry. Those who take on the challenge of climbing the tower can pause for a breather on the way up in the old treasury, where the city's charters, seal and public funds were kept during the Middle Ages, and also at the level of the impressive clock or in the carillonneur's chamber. Finally, after a tiring 366 steps, your efforts will be rewarded with a breath-taking and unforgettable panoramic view of Bruges and her surroundings.

Perhaps one of the most photographed places in the world ! Do take your time out and enjoy a beer and some belgian (and not french!) fries around

Bruge was beautiful. I only wish the weather was sunny when I was there. The views were beautiful from the tower.

We decided to climb the 360 steps up the Belfry on a very wet and windy day. Unfortunately the very rude man who sold us our tickets ruined the occasion for us.

Great views from the top but you need something of a head for heights and the spiral staircases get increasingly steep and narrow. There are also some interesting "museum" areas on lower floors. They limit the numbers in the tower and after a while it operates on a "one out, one in" basis. So get there early to avoid long queues.

A friend and I did the climb whilst partners drank coffee in the Markt. Enough places for a stop on the way up (and down!) and fine views from the top - even on a dismal July morning.
