Owner description: The 115 metres high brick tower of the Church of Our Lady is a perfect illustration of the craftsmanship of Bruges' artisans. The church displays a valuable art collection: Michelangelo's world-famous Madonna and Child, countless paintings, 13th-century painted sepulchres and the tombs of Mary of Burgundy and Charles the Bold.

“The worst church in Bruges”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

I am not religious, but I enjoy the history and architecture of churches. There are some stunning churches in Bruges, but I was not impressed by this one at all, especially considering you have to pay to go in.

There were a lot of rennovations going on, but even so, I found it quite dull. Go to the other big churches in Bruges - they are a lot nicer!

“Major restoration being carried out”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

There is major restoration being carried out and would like to visit it again when the work is complete. It is however well worth a visit to see the Michelangelo Statue of Madonna and Child. The only known Michelangelo piece to leave Italy during his lifetime. Only 2 euros to see the statue.

“Must see Michelangelo's Madonna”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

Even with the renovations at the moment the chance to see Michelangelo's Madonna and Child just can't be missed. She's smaller than I expected but just exquisite. Lots more to see in Our Lady's church as well, of course.

“A bit of a let down”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

As other reviewers have said entry fee is only E2, but the reason a large area including the Burgundian tombs is closed off. The Madonna and Child statue was a little underwhelming. The carved woodwork and paintings were good. Other religious buildings in the city were much better and mostly free.
