Owner description: The 115 metres high brick tower of the Church of Our Lady is a perfect illustration of the craftsmanship of Bruges' artisans. The church displays a valuable art collection: Michelangelo's world-famous Madonna and Child, countless paintings, 13th-century painted sepulchres and the tombs of Mary of Burgundy and Charles the Bold.

We arrived just before the closing time for the Madonna and child. It was two euro pp to go see it. Well worth the pocket change! It was a free for all once in there and it was hard to get a picture of it with no one else in it.
For the church itself, it is under renovations so it was hard to move around with all that and the crowds. I hope to return again.

WEnt into this church to see the sculpture, but the church itself is lovely, unfortunately there was a lot of scaffolding and netting up as it is being restored.

There is construction taking place but there is still a lot to see inside, the madonna and child is a brilliant reason to go in alone.

The church itself is very nice, with some enjoyable art and sculpture around it, but the true beauty (at least for an atheist like myself) was the Michelangelo Madonna, which honestly made my cry. The only downside to it is that it really does make what are some very nice sculptures around it look quite crude! If you are visiting Bruges, I would personally say that missing the Madonna would be a crime - it really is stunningly moving and beautiful.

The Church was undergoing renovation during our visit, but the Madona and Child are worth the trip. We plan to return once the Church once the renovations are finished. I loved Monuments Men and had to visit the church to see the Madona. The City of Bruges is very quaint and worth a visit.
