A wonderful journey into the past of the city. I especially enjoyed the lace section which explained why it's so prevalent in this town.

We stopped in on the way back into town after visiting the windmills. What a lovely little find. Such a great display of days gone by and very well displayed. The buildings themselves have history as does the whole street. I feel that this is growing project and my hat goes off to all those involved. Thank you for sharing.

Although it is slightly off the beaten track, take the time to find this excellent Museum: the various rooms re-create themes from local history and give a fascinating insight into life in days gone by. Outstanding value at €4 per adult, we spent hours there exploring the displays and the guide materials were very informative.

Intriguing display of aspects of the Flemish past and an excellent display of lace as an art form. It is a pity that the café/bar - The Black cat - is no longer srving despite the recommendations it gets in a number of guides. No clear reason given when we asked.

This museum is a walk from the historic center and a bit isolated but we wanted to include it in our visit. The museum itself is well put together though modest and offers a window back in time. We really appreciated the attention put into each room. However we had a couple of concerns.
More information could be offered in English. It would help international visitors.
We were looking forward to eating at their Black Cate Café but it was closed. That was a disappointment because there aren't a lot of other choices in this neighborhood.
The museum manager was rude and curt, not at all welcoming and acted indisposed when we asked questions. It definitely made our visit less enjoyable.
