Owner description: Bruges' City Hall (1376) is one of the oldest in the Low Countries. It is from here that the city has been governed for more than 600 years. An absolute masterpiece is the Gothic Hall, with its late 19th-century murals and polychrome vault. The adjoining historic hall calls up the city council's history with a number of authentic documents and works of art. A multimedia exhibition on the ground floor illustrates the evolution of the Burg Square.

Was a lovely little art exhibition inside and lit, the building looked stunning at night. There's a really nice restaurant in the square next to it with the best steak I have EVER eaten!

“Worth popping in”
Reviewed 30 October 2013

We briefly went in and had a look around the main hall just off the square- to go in to this part is free; we didn't want to spend more money looking around the rest- the hall itself and the outside facade are both impressive in themselves.

“Very Impressive Building”
Reviewed 26 October 2013

This is a very impressive building both inside and out. There is a lot of detail to take in - don't just cast a quick glance over the Gothic Hall. You do not need to spend hours here but it does give you a clear idea of the economic importance of Bruges at one point. Well worth the time.

“Lovely building”
Reviewed 25 October 2013

The great hall is very impressive and the information provided is good. The ceiling is fabulous. You don't have to spend long in there but it's well worth going and it's only €4 including entrance to the Vrije next door with the tremendously impressive renaissance fireplace.
They also give you an interesting little leaflet to help you interpret the outside of the building.

“TownHall”
Reviewed 24 October 2013

What a beautiful structure! We couldn't get enough photos of it! It was easy to imagine the significant role the town hall played during the economic boom years of the city as a center for the trades.
