“Really made our anniversary special”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

We selected the Prinsenhof to celebrate our anniversary. It was hardly the cheapest place in Bruges, but we wanted some place special and it seemed to fit the bill (so to speak). Well, when I asked for flowers to be in the room upon our arrival, I mentioned the reason for our visit. Imagine my delight when we were brought to our room and found they'd upgraded us! The deluxe room was all of that. It was spacious and sumptuous. We always appreciate the little touches, like turn-down services with chocolate left on pillows. We also liked the always-friendly and helpful staff, who assisted us with dining and transportation reservations.

The location is excellent for strolling around the town. It's a long walk from the train station with all your luggage, but taxis are available and not expensive. Some fine dining is near.

Our dinners were so filling we couldn't justify the large breakfasts the Prinsenhof serves. I can only say they looked excellent from a distance.

I have only two complaints. First, we're black-tea drinkers and the selection was limited. Second, the bathroom didn't have much space to hang towels and robes.

What a fabulous hotel. We travelled with friends staying for two nights in June. The welcome was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms we were allocated where both very well appointed and roomy with lots of luxury features. The breakfast was excellent, lots of fresh, tasty food and very engaging staff. The reception staff, despite our best efforts, never failed to answer our questions about potential eating places and places to visit. Our visit to Bruges was a very enjoyable and memorable experience and the hospitality we received at the Prinsenhof was a major contributor to this.

What a fabulous hotel! It was down a quiet street tucked away not far from the main square. The room was a lovely size with a massive bed and beautiful bathroom with separate shower and bath and double sinks. There was a tassimo machine which was a treat but only served earl grey tea coffee and hot choc. There was hairdryer supplied too. The room was spotless and cosy with very effective blackout blinds we slept very well. We didn't have breakfast there slightly pricey at 20 euros each but it was meant to be lovely.

Brugge was beautiful all cobbled streets, canals and bridges. If you fancy a specific restaurant my advice is book before you go over to Brugge the good restaurants were packed. Do try the Damon Chocolatier the chocolates are so delicious better than others we found. We stumbled upon a pub which did beer tasting which was near the lake of love for eight euros you had 3 small beers to choose from. The lady was very knowledgeable and friendly she gave us a beer menu and you chose what you liked if you do not like beer they do lovely wine you can also have their cheese or sausages as a nibble with the wine and beer it was lovely. Do try the moules with fries they are so tasty. Wednesday is a fruit and meat market day very busy.

Brugge is a place to chill for a couple of days, walk, shop, sample the coffee, beer, chocolate and find a bar and watch the world go by then go back to the prinsehof hotel and have a Jacuzzi bath after a busy day. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We had a room just outside the main hotel it was lovely

We loved this hotel. Bruges is remarkable and everyone so friendly. We were lucky to meet the proprietor when we checked in, and she is helpful, friendly, and cares about her city and doing a nice job. She informed us of a complimentary city tour with an English speaking guide that put everything in proper context for us and allowed us to make the most of our limited time in the city. The hotel is classy, well decorated, and interesting in terms of its classic decor and modern conveniences. The location cannot be beat. There is no bellhop/valet, but our taxi driver helped with our bags, as did the front desk staff. The lobby, though small, had ample gorgeous seating for us while we waiting to check in after another couple. Our room was not ready, but our bags were kept secure while we wandered around the town.

We would definitely stay at this hotel again. A little pricey by American standards, but boutique, personal, and the costs in line with what you can expect for a city like this in Europe.

We made a very late booking on the same morning after other accommodation let us down at the last minute. We had a room on the top floor of the main building with a great view of the spires and chimney-pots of central bruges. On arrival, Karen told us we had been given an upgrade and the room certainly did not disappoint. Air conditioning was very welcome (bruges was experiencing something of a heatwave at the time!!). The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Its status as Trip Advisor's #1 recommended hotel in bruges is well-deserved. We would definitely return.

This is a great hotel. Calm, friendly, relaxed and helpful staff. A lovely, clean and well stocked room. Very close to the centre of Bruges, yet set back just enough to be very quiet. A real home from home, we hated having to leave. We'd go back if returning to Bruges. If you can afford a Premium room, go for 51 - the one with the round window at the top of the front of the building :)

Room Tip: room 51.....

Located a short distance from the train station, 8 to 10 euros tops, Hotel Prinsenhof is on a quiet narrow way off the beaten path. The staff was very friendly, thorough, informative and kind. Pauline checked me in and during check in I was told that I was given an upgrade. Well, wasn't that nice? When I got to the room, there was an envelope with my name on it waiting for me. It was a welcome letter, giving me much needed details and most importantly, the internet code...woohoo....nice touch!! My room #47 was located outside in a secluded small parking lot/garden like area. It was well appointed and spacious enough to be more than comfortable. The bathroom was modern, fled throughout and there was a heated rack in the bathroom which was a great feature since it allowed me to have heated towels and it was great to dry clothing items on it as well. There were personal sized toiletries available for use. A big bonus was that the hotel offers a free guided tour of the city and the meeting place, the town square, was a short walk from hotel. This tour was absolutely perfect!! The tour guide was very friendly, engaging, well informed. He made sure to highlight all of the spots that needed to be seen while in Bruges and made the city all the more interesting. Offering this free tour was yet another a nice touch and further confirmed that I chose the right hotel. One thing that was a bit uncomfortable is in this particular room was the positioning of the television. It was difficult to change the TV channels with the remote without severing leaning to the right to be able to control the television. I did not mention this to the staff, but they should definitely think about repositioning the furniture in the room to make television watching more comfortable.
Hotel Prinsenhof is located in an area that is peppered with shops and restaurants and a lot of things to do that are within walking distance. I definitely recommend staying at this hotel, you will be pleased that you did.

Room Tip: Having a room located in the garden area means that when you open your door, you are outside. If the...
