“Cute little square”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 February 2014

This is just a cute little square off the Markt, which is home to the Basilica of the Holy Blood and the City Hall (among a couple of other things). There really isn't much to do here, but the Basilica was one of my favourite buildings in the entire city, so it's worth walking through just to admire the architecture!

“Beautiful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 February 2014

Nice at night and nice in the morning. Brugge has stayed authentic where other cities in Belgium have been lost. For example Halle.
It was January and we understand that tourisme is down at those months but most all stores were open. In Normandie France, it was the opposite.

“Great front exterior”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 January 2014

Not worth going inside - it was redone in the late 19th century. But the exterior is absolutely fantastic.

“A lovely outdoor area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 January 2014

A number of people mistake the Burg for the Markt. The Burg Square is just off the Markt via an always very busy pedestrian street, shared with bicycles and horse drawn carriages.

As in most of Bruges, the buildings are the star attraction. Always worth a wander around and a snap with your camera. Just take in the history and enjoy the atmosphere.

Occasionally you will find live music performances in the Burg Square. I took a youth ensemble there in 1994 and a special stage was erected for them to play on.

“Great Buildings and interesting exhibition.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 January 2014

The buildings on the Burg really are very good architecturally speaking. Both during the day and at night.
The Stadhuis has an interesting small exhibition which details the political development of Bruges and West Flanders from the beginning to the present day.
It certainly provides an easy to understand background to Bruges history.
The main hall( where presumably the council meetings take place) was pretty jaw dropping.
The Basilica of the Holy Blood next door was impressive ( especially the far older ground level Church) and upstairs ( as it was Sunday) they were actually letting people walk past the phial of the Holy Blood)
