Stayed in a 2 bed ensuite room with my 13 year old son. Lovely friendly and helpful staff, room was very clean, bedding fine, shower was great. No toiletries in the room so bring your own. Food in the Sacre Coeur was good, ate there two evenings, not the cheapest but still good value and tasty and a really good atmosphere. It's a very echo-ey place and we did get woken up about 3am by other guests returning and just walking upstairs and opening and closing doors. Breakfast was basic - boiled eggs, rolls, cornflakes, hot drinks and orange juice. Overall really pleased with this choice and considering what you pay in a bog standard faceless hotel - this place is well worth it!

The hostel is very well located close of everything. The staff is nice and can help you if you have any question. All the main attraction of Brugge are walking distance from the Hostel.

The front desk is close during the night and it open only at 9h in the morning. So if you have any problem during the night it,s not very helpful.

The included breakfast is not the best but it's ok.

The free WiFi work perfectly if you are at the reception or in the bar, but it don't work in the room.

The size of the room is good and they are clean. The size of the bathroom, if you get a private one, is very small. Even the shower size is small. Guy you might not fit in it. You might want to use the shared shower.

The bar and restaurant at the hostel is average. You will find better restaurant downtown. If you want a great bar go to The Crash about 5 min walk from the hostel. The beer is cheap ant the music very good.

I will suggest this Hotel if plan to stay in Brugge for one or two night.

If you need an hostel into the centre of Bruges this is in a nice position.
You can find here big shoawer room and a very nice dinner pub linked to the hostel (WC are shared - from the hostel you can open a door if you need to go to the wc and in front of you exit the wc going into the pub!!)
You may found some spider or beetles and you have to pay for internet but the location and the pub are good (even if not so cheap)

I usually avoid hostel chains like st christophers but becaue everything in town was booked up so I had no choice.... but 25 EUROS FOR A 12 PERSON BED ROOM!???! who do you think you are??! Thats ridiculously priced for Bruges! I had a quick look on the internet later and saw average price for dormitories in any other hostel in town is 16euros for a 6 bed!!!!!!! so lets get started- its such a stale un homey and unwelcoming feeling there. everything is white and glass but in a medieval city like bruges its just horrible! staff were ok but did not look happy to be there and deffinently did not offer any extra help or chitchat. The reception staff were especially uninterested (except the bubbly belgian girl who seemed to work days in the week) the rooms smelled; the bar was boring and location HORRIBLE in such a small town you couldnt be further from the station or city centre! free wifi but no free computers to use, i hqte this qs it just encourqges flashpaskers and extremely unfair!!!
NOT RECOMMENDED;;;;;;;;;;;;;;EVER! (unless your a flashpacker, then its great for you..)

This hostel is great if you are travelling alone because they have many group activities, tours and pub crawls etc.
Only down fall is it isnt a 24/7 reception and with a bad earache i had no help where to go at 4am on a sunday.
But in every other aspect they were there extremely helpful and kind. Not a place for families and young children but if i was to stay in bruges again, i would definately stay here. Staff were great.
A few great things is they have sinks in the rooms so for simple things like brushing your teeth you didnt need to go to the communual toilets. (Well i had one in my room anyway). Also wifi and baggage storage is available too. Very helpfull.

The hostel is very cheap, with breakfast inlcuded in the price, and centrally situated ideal for walking around the downtown.

We were only for one night at this hostel. We booked a triple room with shared bathroom but when we arrived they stayed us in a room with private bathroom, that was small but was into the room and the price didn't change.

Our room was clean and the staff was very friendly with a normal breakfast.

In the morning we could make a free tour from the hostel around the city center with a fun guide in English language and in the afternoon for only 10€ per person we enjoyed a regional beer tasting with 6 different Belgian beers and the hostel had a pub with some different beers.

The only one downside is that if you go by car you maybe couldn't park near the hostel.

I did not have an enjoyable experience at the Bauhaus Hostel when I stayed here for three nights with a friend in November 2010. We stayed in a mixed dorm room which was utterly impossible to sleep in because of noise (which kind of defeats the purpose of renting a bed). The club down the hall was so loud the bass shook the beds and I could hear song lyrics even with ear plugs in. Never once did the showers have water at any temperature other than freezing cold, no matter what time of day it was. One day my pink towel went missing only to discover the maids had taken it along with the hostel's own (which are black) and I got it back 24 hours later, wet and smelling moldy. The front desk girl during the daytime (who, to be fair, said she was filling in for someone) was unable to recommend any museums and had never visited any of them. We went on the 'In Bruges' city tour, where the guide mostly just walked us around town and, in the theme of the film, inserted profanity in between every word and at the end said if we weren't going to tip high we ought not to tip at all, because he would be insulted if we tipped too low. The tour was a waste of time. Worst of all, the hostel was dirty! When a dormmate told a staff member there was visible dirt on the furniture in the 'just cleaned' room, she asked him why he was incapable of cleaning it himself.

To be fair, the location is great, just a quick jaunt into town; the restaurant's food was good if not remarkably well-priced; the bar's beers were ridiculously cheap and delicious (try the cherry beer!); and the price is right! But everything else was a letdown.

I LOVED Bruges but a necessary condition of my return is that I will stay in a hotel.
