“Enjoyed Brugge more than expected”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 April 2012

We enjoyed staying at Ter Reien--had an adequate room (twin beds put together), facing the canal--pretty view. Quiet hotel, breakfast very adequate, home cooked food. Clean room and clean hotel. Took taxi from train station--too far to walk. Hotel was in excellent location to explore the town center. Walked everywhere--but always found a new adventure around every corner. Only inconvenience was VERY small bathroom--like one you would find in a motorhome---tiny shower area. Everything else was very nice and we will stay here again if we visit Brugge.

We stayed here the weekend of the Tour De Flanders weekend when every other place in town was booked twice over.

The hotel is located on a main street and walking distance of the main Bruges attractions. It is located right next to a really pretty canal and has several open air restaurants and shops right outside.

The room we got was a standard (non-canal view). We had asked for a double room but were allocated a triple. Room was decent sized with old exposed wooden beams in the corners of the room.

That's where the charm ended. Our room had one of those pod bathrooms that other reviewers have described. It was beyond tiny and didn't even have doors that closed fully.

The hotel served a good breakfast (crepes, boiled eggs, coffee machine etc.) but only if you got there before 8.30 am. After that, the cook/server refused to replace anything that had run out although the official breakfast time was until 10.30 am.

The hotel was stingy with other things as well. A map of the city was an additional .50 cents. No free wifi. Hundreds of printed signs all over the hotel warning/admonishing guests about the various things that they could do wrong and would be charged for. I'm all for making the "rules" of the place know but prefer discretion rather than a sense of scolding.

Add to that the fact that at 2.00 am some jerks went around the hotel banging on doors and creating a major racket in the hallways (although this not really the hotel's fault).

Would I stay here again? Probably not. I came to Bruges to be charmed. I'd rather spend a little more next time and get something nicer.

High School group traveling to a Model United Nations conference in the Netherlands stopped off in Bruges first for some touring. We booked two triples and two double rooms for the gorup of 10. At check in the desk clerk helped us with clearing up a slight discrepancy between the booking and the keys but it all worked out well. The clerk took us personally to the rooms and made sure we were all comfortable with the setup. Two of the rooms had wonderful canal views and all had enough room for our needs. The rooms were clean as well as the batrooms. The batroom in the double was small but we had stayed in Bruges before and new this was a condition of older buiding batrooms, so it met our expectation. The only negative was that the shower hose had a large leak near the connecion to the shower head and more water came out the leak than the head. There was plenty of hot water though. Checkin and checkout were smooth and easy and though we paid 5 euro for the wireless internet, all of the rooms in our group could use it.Best of all the room price was very good compared to other hotels. Our hotel stay included breakfast which was a nice variety of food and the best croissants as people have said before. I would definitely stay here again either with my wife or with a group.

Room Tip: The canal rooms are romantic and nice but can be noisy with the tour boat noise if you're not an...

My girlfriend and I stayed at Ter Reien for 3 nights at the start of March. The hotel was brilliant, our room was lovely (I'd recommend a canal view room), and the woman at the front desk was very helpful. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Bruges.

Looked for a reasonable place to stay with a canalside location and stumbled upon Ter Reien. Stayed for 2 nights and couldn't fault the place.
Friendly staff who spoke English and were happy to provide us with a map showing where we could leave the car.
Room was spacious and very clean - worth paying that little bit extra for a canal view and our request for a double rather than a twin room was met. (we stayed in room 115).
Price included breakfast which was ok (best croissants I've ever tasted tho).
Hotel within walking distance of all the main sights and within stumbling distance to a few late bars.
If you plan on visiting Bruges soon and don't want to spend a fortune on a hotel, then make sure you stay here

Room Tip: Book a canal view room Email the owner once confirmation received and specifically request a double...

We stayed for 2 nights. I'd splurge on the canal view as it really makes a difference during your stay. Everyone was friendly and the rooms were extremely clean. Breakfast was more American but still great.
