“A BEAUTIFUL HOTEL...IDEALLY SITUATED”
Reviewed 18 December 2009

Although not the biggest of rooms and with a very small bedroom , the perfect situation of the hotel more than made up for this as well as the spotless nature of the rooms and the more than acceptable range of the breakfast buffet. Staff were pleasant and helpful as well.

I have stayed in 4 different hotels in Bruges, the first of which was classed as a hostel, and I have to say, was of superior class to this hotel.
The exterior of the hotel is lovely, as is the entrance hall in the first building. The rooms are very very small and if you are tall, need to ensure that yhou advise this at booking, or else be very aware of the limited space.
My partner and I had a large bathroom, although were a little disappointed on arrival to find the toilet seat broken completely, although on reporting this it was replaced later that day.
My parents bathroom on the other hand was a disgrace. It really was a closet no bigger than 2-3ft square and when they showered, the whole of the "closet bathroom" became flooded.

In our room, the space for hanging up of clothes and coats was very very limited. There were NO drawers and only enough hanger space for 2 winter coats. Not ideal in the rain.

The bedding was clean and towels changed daily. The breakfast room was small although very airy, but when staying 3 days the breakfast buffet was very below par wwith only choice of 3 at most meats, 1 type of cheese, bread, croissants and pan au chocolat. After 3 days of no variety, it was a little lacking.

The staff spoke very good english, although were sometimes a little abrupt, for example when asking were the buis stop to the station was we were very curtly told up the road 200yards and they are every 10 minutes. Which wasnt the case and left uis stood outside waiting for 25 mins in the puring rain, hence us all and luggage saturated.

For the price the value for money was not that good at all. The views of the canal were lovely, and we did see other rooms that very much looked of a higher standard to ours. Perhaps the hotel is undergoing renovations and we were in the part waiting for this.

Oh, and try to ask for a room that is NOT facing the pub across the road that is open very very late as it is rather noisy.

We were meeting son and daghter-in-law, and our two grandchiildren who had travelled from Aus. We arrived the day before them.

Loved the area the hotel was in, the room - very comfy beds and the bathroom - very impressed with that (had been a tad apprehensive as I had read a review saying they were small - but put it this way - I am larger than life and got in and out of the shower ok!)

Breakfasts were excellent - the hot chocolate was to die for.

Son and dil had a family room - blimey - it was HUGE!!!!!!

We were all lovely and warm in our rooms, they were clean, comfortable and there were extra blankets and pillows if required in them too.

Staff were very pleasant and welcoming.

Can't wait til we go back again, it was hubands first visit to Bruges , my 2nd, but deffo NOT the last.

Fantastic hotel, situated where the canal diverge in three different directions. We had a room with canal view and we were very pleased. The view was fantastic, in both directions, we had room 114 so could see right along the canal and its lovely buildings. We had 3 windows, 2 of which faced the canal and opened inward so you could sit on the wide ledge and gaze out. The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the main square, but in an area that reveals the real architectural diversity in Bruges. The hotel is clean and whilst being modern in its decor it takes into account the period building it is in. There is a charming central courtyard with seating. Breakfast was fantastic, buffet style. The selection included warm croissants, pain a chocolate, warm boiled eggs, ham, cheese, soft rolls, yoghurts, muesli amongst other things. There was also hot chocolate, tea, coffee, juice. Really lovely way to start the day. Our room was amble size, beds were comfy, we could easily adjust the heating too. Yes the bathroom was small, but did what a bathroom should! Anyway I didn't go to Bruges to spend my 3 days sitting in my hotel bathroom. Flat screen TV in the room had BBC 1 and ITV 1 as well as many local channels. The staff were polite and friendly and we also got a free museum card with our room which was a bonus!. The hotel is across the road from a number of restaurants and a great modern bar called Punta Est is just around the corner, literally 2 minutes away. We went to Bruges on the 9th November and returned on the 11th and couldn't believe how quiet everywhere was. Ideal in fact! This is a great hotel, I will definitely return to Bruges and will stay here.

We stayed here for 4 nights with our teenagers. The rooms were beautifully clean, ample breakfast,( though not such a good selection as another hotel in Bruges at the same rate....). The bathrooms were ample big enough for us, the only down side being no lounge/bar to sit in the evening or day had it been wet...which it wasn't thankfully. It is a moments walk from the centre and has a good supply of shops and eateries on its doorstep.

We stayed here for 2 nights during the half-term break. Easy to find by car and secure parking (8 Euro per 24 hr) nearby. This is a simple and clean B&B. Hotel is too grand a title as there is little beyond a small reception, breakfast room and your bedroom. No lounge or bar. So take it for what it is. We had room 211 which is the quad room on the top floor. Roomy and clean - very adequate for a family of four. Nice long bath. Breakfast is okay - usual machine coffee, juice plus a selection of bread, croissants etc. For 300 Euro for 4 people / 2 nights it is all in pretty good value.

Location is fine - everything in Bruges is within walking distance anyway. We particularly enjoyed the horse and carriage ride, the boat trip and the climb up ther tower. People are friendly and welcoming. Do beware the prices however, especially for eating out - Bruges has become very expensive and near parity with £ is killing us Brits! Best restaurant we found was Carlitos - a nice Italian just a few minutes walk from the oldest square (not Markt).

Bruges is a beautiful place and worth a visit (this was our fourth) and Ter Reien a comfortable if not basic home to enjoy during your stay.

This was a gorgeous hotel in so many ways, comfy beds, quiet, beautiful setting, close to the centre, lovely breakfast, friendly staff, the only draw back was the size of the bathroom, as someone has previously mentioned they are a bit on the small side. My mother and I (4'11 and 5'3 respectively) struggled with the size of the shower - half the size of an average square shower, and though we could fit under it I am sure If I had stayed their with my other half, at 6'3, he would have struggled to stand up straigfht in the pod like bathroom. I would definatley recommend it for all the other reasons though.
