This was a really nice hotel. The room was a good size and very clean. It had everything we needed. The only negative with the room was the teeny tiny bathroom - it was very cramped. We encountered two staff members, one was brilliant and the other was helpful but a bit unfriendly. The breakfast was great - yummy fresh croissants, and lots of other things. The location was fantastic - right on the canal, at an intersection of two canals, just a couple of minutes walk from the Markt and Belfort, and everything else. Our room didn't have a canal view though. They also gave us a free discount card which got us €2 each off the Belfort entry fee, and a few other small savings. Use of wifi (at €5) was a bit expensive.

The staff at this hotel were very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was modern, simple & comfortable. The location is close to the centre, and particularly to the main museums.
Just around the corner is a wonderful restaurant, Refter; owned by a Michelin-starred chef, it provided a bit of luxury!

I loved the location; couple of little pubs next door; easy walk to main square. I did take a taxi to to/from train station but it was very inexpensive. Room was not big and bath was small but all I needed for two nights. I would return again.

My wife and I visited Brugge from the 2nd to the 4th of January for our first wedding anniversary. We stayed in the honeymoon suite at the Ter Reien and, as such, my comments really only apply to this room. We do not have a lot of experience staying in hotels but of all the places we have stayed in (none of which I would say were bad) the Ter Reien was the best! Our room was great; we had enough room for everything we needed, it was clean, it was warm, the view spectacular and the bed comfy. The television was not the centre-piece of the room which was a nice as we didn't travel all the way from New South Wales to watch tv. We had a nice bathroom attached to our room with a shower, sink, toilet and actual soap, not that weird bodywash/shampoo lotion that is seems prevalent around the place.
Oh and the view! We were right on the canal; our window opened to reveal a little fence which made us feel like we were on a balcony. If it had of been summer I would have been sorely tempted to jump into the canal. We just put our photos of the trip on our computer and I think that half of them would be of the canal, the ducks and the buildings all seen from our room.
The staff were very nice, especially the lady behind the desk who checked us in. She pointed us in the direction (and gave us some names) of good restaurants for our anniversary dinner and seemed genuinely pleased for us that it was our anniversary. After not following her directions we ate at a dodgy place in the market so the next day she called some nice places to try and book us a place for our anniversary dinner take two.
We enjoyed the breakfast very much; I was particularly fond of the pastries and that breakfast was included in the room price.

Overall we would recommend the Ter Reien and their honeymoon suite to everyone who we like. We had a wonderful time in Brugge made all the more wonderful for our stay at the Ter Reien.

We actually stayed here one year ago and I have been meaning to write a review as the place was great! Bruges is a magical city and Hotel Ter Reien is a lovely hotel, when we go back we will stay there again.
We had a spacious room, and a ok sized bathroom.
The staff were helpful when I asked for an adapter for a hairdryer, and were very welcoming in the breakfast room.
The hotel was in a great area and we walked to all the attractions (museums etc).
The hotel tries to be environmentally friendly which is great too!
The only improvement I could think of was for the hotel to have an evening dining area but this is not a necessity as there are lots of places to eat in the city.

Only 5 minutes from the Burg Place.
I would certainly recommend it.
