“Atmospheric and Romantic”

Just back from a two night stay in this beautiful 16th Century hotel. We were lucky enough to have secured a special offer for this break and were pleasantly surprised to be told upon arrival that we had been upgraded to a `Superior Room' (No. 53). The room and en-suite were both fabulous with lovely lighting, a beamed ceiling, heavy drape curtains and a soft, restful colour scheme. Staff were very helpful and the breakfast in the medieval cellar with its vaulted ceiling was an excellent affair of various types of breads and croissants, jams, spreads, cereals, fruit and fruit-juices, cheese, cold meats, hard boiled eggs and tea/coffee. The location of this canal-side hotel is perfect, just a short walk from the centre of Bruges. There is a lovely reception area in which to relax as well as a little bar and an outside terrace and room service is also available. The only real down-side overall was the fact that the shower was not the walk-in type but was a hand-held shower set low on the wall as part of the bath. This and the fact that the hotel does not have an iron - so do make sure to pack a travel-iron. All in all Hotel Ter Brughe is a beautiful hotel with an atmosphere of old-fashioned romance and charm. It is not really suitable for families but I would highly recommend it as a perfect hotel for couples seeking a romantic break and I would definitely love to return - ideally to sample the magical atmosphere of the Christmas market and Bruges in the snow!

stayed for 3 nights in a superior room on the third floor. Was really lovely, spacious room with view of courtyard. Only negative was we had a bath and not a shower. the reception was open very late- I think through the night. Quite location on the canal and only 5 minutes walk into the main part of bruges. There isn't a lift.

It's a very beautiful building in a nice location. The reception desk staff seemed to vary between a friendly man and a lady who gave us the impression that she really didn't like people very much. The room was quite compact with a tiny television, very clean though. No shower curtain so showering was not easy. Our room was over looking the canal so plenty of mosquitoes. (Would pull down mosquito nets be such a stretch?). The hotel corridors are quite noisy and you can hear what's going on in other rooms, but it's the price you pay for staying in such an old building I guess...
Breakfast was well presented and had a good selection.
I think that it's main selling point is that it's slightly outside of the main area so there's a lot less street noise. Oh... and we walked from the train station to the hotel...it takes 35-40 minutes but it's a pleasant walk.

We stayed here for four nights having chosen it for it's location, which was convenient and quiet, not always available together. We requested a room overlooking the canal which we got, however it was overlooked by apartments opposite. The accommodation was adequate but not perfect; bath but no shower, well a shower on the taps but no means of supporting it and no curtain. So it was baths everyday, not ideal. Bed was very comfortable though and the room contained all we needed but I'm not sure why they don't have hairdriers in the rooms rather than saying they're available at reception if required. Breakfast was buffet style and a bit hit and miss; there was plenty of fruit available on days 1 and 2 but only apples on days 3 and 4 a bit disappointing. Wi fi was also a bit hit and miss, mostly available but often very slow and sometimes had to got down to the lounge to get a connection. All in all I'd say satisfactory but nothing to write home about.

The beds were ok.
The customer service was so so.
The tv was the smallest tv I think I have ever seen.

MAJOR CON...it isn't located extremely close to the city center.

Nice views out the room, but there are tons of hotels in the area that are 'starred' less than this hotel and I thought were better quality.

Only stay here if you get a good price, otherwise consider a different hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the canal

we stayed 3 nights and the hotel was fantastic. checked in at 1am and were welcomed by a friendly face who made it really easy. room overlooked the canal - which was great, rooms 2,3,4 - and we had heard the mosquitos may be a problem but the room was epuipped with a mozzie zapper and a mini bar, TV. Breakfast in continental style with plenty of coffee or tea refills available, bread and cheese selection was refilled in running and the waitress turned a blind eye when i left with a handful of stuff from the servery. really well located and less than 10 mins walk to main square (bell tower) and lots of nice bars 5 mins away. ample parking available - we didn't use the hotel garages and on street parking was fine. well worth the £80 per room per night we paid through expedia and will definately go back.

Room Tip: rooms 2,3,4 overlooked the canal - others will do the same at a higher level but there are some room...

Brugge is a lovely City. Good location just on the north side of the tourist centre, a short walk to the Markt Square. A nice quiet area. If you have a car suggest you park at the train station 3.5€ per day as parking next to hotel difficult.

We had a superior room overlooking the canal which had a great view. A very large room with character, exposed roof beams, only downside was there was no air conditioning and it was hot when we stayed and leaving the windows open risked the mosquitos from the canal.
Breakfast in the cellar were good (continental) with plenty of choice.

Wifi in the hotel only worked in the lounge area, not in the room.

Standard double room rates displayed at the hotel were 60€ per night.

Would definitely stay again

Room Tip: Can only comment on the superior room overlooking the canal
