“Quaint and good”

It should've been a "five star"-report actually. But since we had to park our car quite a long walk away and since You actually have to sit in the tub(!) to take a "shower" I could not go higher than a "three star"-report. Too bad really since the staff is friendly and knowing and the (small) rooms are nice too as is the included breakfast.

Room Tip: We booked a room with a channel view, but save Your money; it's not really worth it

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in August 2013 on the last leg of a long six-week Western European vacation.

Hotel Ter Brughe was absolutely phenomenal. The location, right on a canal, can't be beat and the view alone of the beautiful lit-up canal at night is worth the price of admission. However, there's much more that makes this location worth it's money. The room itself was large and spacious and beautifully appointed. Breakfast, which was included for us, was more than ample and absolutely delicious down in the "cellar". You sit, literally, right at canal level and it's a beautiful view to enjoy breakfast with.

Finally, the service was phenomenal. Unfortunately, my wife got sick during our stay here and required acute care. The hotel steward on duty, in excellent English, gave us the card of a doctor who sees hotel patients. We were in and out with the doctor in less than forty-five minutes and had our prescription filled within the hour. The staff were incredibly helpful to arrange it all; they also arranged for us to rent bikes for the day to bike the lovely canals out of town.

Highly recommended!

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in June 2014. Very old listed building, although the furniture was dated this kept it in character with the rest of the building. No lift so ask for a ground floor room if you don't do steps! Better still ask for room 6 on the ground floor, HUGE room and the sun shone through the 4 large windows all day long, beautiful view over the canal and city.
Breakfast is downstairs in the cellar (don't be put off) view again of canal and plenty of food to choose from. Small bar and lovely terrace area, at the time we stayed some building work was being undertaken but the noise was minimal. No modern shower but shower head and curtain over bath did the job just as good. No tea making facilities in the room (2.50 Euros per cup charged for room service) and although I didn't take my travel kettle the hotel did say I could have brought it along, (Note to self for next visit).
It is just a short walk to the centre and shops (though a map is advised as you can soon get lost around the narrow streets).
Staff very pleasant, attentive and knowledgeable about the area. They will lock your luggage away at no extra charge if you aren't traveling home until later in the day. Lovely stay and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Room Tip: Room 6 is on the ground floor and is very spacious with plenty of sunshine when it is out. View over...

We stayed 16-19 june 2014, the hotel was lovely, very clean and tidy, the staff were really helpful and friendly too. Great location, only a small city so easy to walk the whole city from here.
Breakfast was lovely served down in the cellar, great choices each morning.

We really loved our stay here, situated in a quiet part of town,a short walk to the center.Boutique hotel in an authentic old Bruges building with lots of exposed timber. Our room was on the second floor overlooking the canal, very clean and quite spacious.Sure the bathroom has a hand held shower fitting, but the plumbing system has to be older in a building of this style and we found it really not to be a big deal.Lovely little courtyard downstairs for a late afternoon drink.Reception lady was exceptionally helpful and friendly, breakfast was excellent, all up we were very happy to have stayed in this little gem and we considered it to be excellent value.

Lots of style and class to this old hotel. The rooms have been kept up nicely and the breakfast in the basement was charming. The walls are very thin though. We stayed on a Thursday night, there was a loud college party right across the street until well past 2 a.m. And construction started promptly at 8:30 a.m. so we didn't get much sleep.
