“Great place, great staff!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 May 2014

We stayed in Bruges for 2 days and one night. Walking in to the hotel you are immediately aware of the quality and high standards the place has.

When we checked in, we were given an upgrade to an executive suite, free of charge! The room was in excellent condition and made our trip extra special. The breakfast was excellent quality and the staff were just as good. The young concierge lad, was very friendly and helpful.

The location is perfect. It is literally few minutes walk from the square.

If you are planning a trip to Bruges, this is the perfect place to stay.

We got to the hotel 3 hours before checking in time and as we were on a motorbike, we had quite a bit of stuff, including helmets, bike gear etc. Although we couldn't check in, the staff let us park the bike (free of charge) in their car park and they locked all our stuff up in a safe room so that we could walk into the town centre. When we got back, for some reason we had been upgraded (also free of charge) to their Royal Suite. Absolutely fantastic room!! There is also an indoor swimming pool which was an added bonus. They have a area reserved for kids with loads of toys etc. I could not fault the staff, hotel or the breakfast. Another little touch is that when you get up in the morning you will find a card under your door with the weather forecast

We had a good experience here, mainly because we were upgraded to a larger than we needed junior suite (room 235). It had 2 double beds and a single and with the exception of a surprisingly small and out of proportion bathroom, was very big. You can see that the hotel has had a recent renovation, however it is a shame that the finishing details weren't completed better. The bathroom door was cheap and plastic and felt like it had been taken from a public loo and one of the shower doors was missing, whilst at the same time the laminate wooden floor gave a sense that money had been spent. It was confusing.

Our friends however didn't quite have the same experience in room 10. They said the walls were very thin and as they were at the front of the hotel, found the main road to be very loud and the flags directly outside their window to be a noisy addition to the nightly calm wanted. We noticed even in our junior suite on the top floor that the walls were thin, I hope next door was alright, their cough sounded quite nasty.

The pool was smaller than suggested in the photos, but still nice to have and the kids play area, complete with an Xbox 360 and kinect sensor would have been good for any kids staying.

I think the hotel have reacted to the comments made around breakfast as there always seemed to be food there, however the choice was fairly limited and despite getting to breakfast at 8 most mornings, the bread didn't seem to ever be fresh. Still, the choice was enough to fill a hole and they had bacon, scrambled eggs in addition to the basics you would expect from a continental breakfast.

The location is very good and it's just a 10-15 minute walk into town and we walked from the station, through the park, to the hotel when we arrived. That took around 20 mins and there was a path all the way. If it's not raining and you haven't got too much luggage, there is no need to catch a cab anywhere.

In summary, a good 3 star hotel, which is fairly good value for money. I wouldn't go out of my way to tell people to stay here, but I wouldn't tell anyone not to either.

Room Tip: Try and get a room at the rear of the building away from the noisy road.

Me & my husband stopped here for 3 nights. The hotel was very clean and modern, staff were very helpful and do speak English. We stopped in one of the rooms at the top of the hotel (attic room 258) and it was very nice and spacious, it did get very warm but there was a ceiling fan.
The breakfast was good, but I do prefer a good old full English breakfast!, however there was a good choice, cerals, fruit, yogurts, breads, ham, cheese, pastries, scrambled eggs and streaky bacon and as much coffee, tea as you like.
I would deffo recommend this hotel for all.

This hotel does more than it say's on the tin it has great staff and very good rooms for the price not only that it is in walking distance of the station and town. We had 3 rooms on the bottom floor that did not have the best of views but it's a bedroom that was clean and of a good size with a good bed that if you wanted to watch a flat screen TV from you could. The bathroom was good and the water piping hot so what more do you want. Breakfast was in with the price of the room and we were amazed just how many people were at breakfast as we never saw more that 4 or 5 people around the hotel at any time. it was a very good breakfast with fresh hot food. The bar in the hotel was good and not stupid prices that you some times get when you have a drink at the bar. WiFi was good in all areas of the hotel that we visited. The staff were more than helpful and when we return again next year to find more places of interest in Brugge as are stay was only for 3 nights before travelling on to Brussels.

This is a 3 star hotel with friendly staff. One lovely touch that we liked was having the weather forecast hand written and delivered under the door each morning so we knew what to wear. There were plenty of plug sockets in the room which was great for 2 women with phones, ipads and laptops to charge. The rooms themselves were great, clean and lovely and warm. Overall great experience.

The hotel Karol Floris is a small boutique type hotel with a swimming pool and gym. The entrance reception is spacious and relaxing with a really nice ambience. The staff were very and friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable and being a suite was super. Although we were only stayed one night in Bruges and hence one night at the Karol Floris, we would like to have stayed longer and will definitely stay at the hotel when we are next in Bruges. There is no restaurant for an evening meal, but the town centre is a short and pleasant walk. The breakfast was substantial and had both continental and cooked breakfasts.
