Stayed here for 3 nights in September 2013. Excellent location in the old town, down a side street so quiet. Room was spacious, comfortable beds, 2 easy chairs plus desk and chair. Tea and coffee making facilities in room. Toiletries provided and bathroom fine. All very clean.

Breakfast was good, though some of the fruit was of the tinned variety. Plenty of food available.

Bar was properly serviced (not like the Hilton 'we'll serve you when we get time' approach) with a proper barman. Not too expensive and plenty of space to sit down and enjoy a beer (careful with the beer, some of it is very strong). Bruges Zot is a nice beer but not for a session (6.2%)

All the staff are very pleasant and speak good English. There is also an endless supply of sweets on the counter at Reception (small things can make a difference!).

As for Bruges, superb place, lots of history and plenty to see. Cathedral is excellent, trip round local brewery is recommended, and a boat trip on canal / river was very good. Historium Museum is a bit offbeat and not for the claustrophobic.

Plenty of eateries in Bruges. Those round Markt area overpriced (5 Euros for a bottle of water particularly hacks me off) but those off the beaten track more reasonable. Restaurants seem to close fairly early so don't leave it too late to dine. There are a couple of very reasonable baguette shops for a leisurely lunch.

Overall an excellent few days. Pity about the rain but plenty of indoor attractions.

Hotel was clean, rooms well equipped and staff very friendly and helpful. We stayed on a B&B basis and breakfast was excellent.
The hotel is close to city centre - a ten minute walk to market square. There are convenient restaurants, bars and shops.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights. The hotel is in a very convenient location for walking around the city. Our room was at the front of the hotel overlooking the street and was noisy. No need for an alarm clock the dustbin lorry did the job each morning. It is surprising how many people and cars pass through there in the late hours.
The room was adequate but the carpet was only cleaned in the middle, the edges were very dirty. The toilet bowl was also needing some attention.
Breakfast was adequate and there was always enough food available.
Not, though, a four star hotel

Room Tip: Avoid rooms at the front

I stayed there for three nights in a "classic double-bed room". The room had everything I needed, mini-fridge, schampo, hairdryer and tv. They cleaned it everyday and changed the towels. They were very generous with the small packages of handsoap, schampo and showercream, they put new ones even if I hardly used the ones I had already. The breakfast was ok, both warm food with eggs, beans and sausages as well as fruits, cereals, bread, croissants and a coffee and juicemaker. The staff were very friendly and recommended things to do in town when I checked in. I also got a map and a discount card for touristattractions. I would absolutly stay here again!

There is not much wrong with the Acadamie, the breakfasts are good with plenty of choBrugge.oth hot and cold food available.
The rooms are comfortable and quiet with BBC 1&2 but no ITV. Some redecoration is required but overall good. As with all hotels the bar prices are high but Brugge is a very expensive place so it fits in ok.
Its location is excellent being only 10 mins walk from the station and the centre of Brugge.

Have finally found the ideal hotel for our visits to Bruges. Situated in a nice quiet street but within walking distance of some very nice restaurants. Only 5 minutes walk to the beautiful Minnewater (Lake of Love) and 10 minutes walk to the Market Square. Travelled with wife and mother-in-law and we had two lovely rooms overlooking almshouses and gardens on Noordstraat. The hotel was quirky in a nice way with nooks and cranies where you could have a quiet drink. The bar was well stocked with a good variety of Belgium beers and a knowledgeable barman, prices were reasonable for a hotel and the beers served in their correct glasses. The rooms were spacious and clean. We decided to pay the costs of breakfast in the hotel because of the variety and it was cheaper then eating out. The hot food was not to our liking but the fruit, cold meats, cheese, bread etc more then filled the gap. Parking was tight but we only had a medium sized car and happy to pay the 15 euros per day for security. The reception staff and the room attendants were very pleasant, the breakfast staff did not interact with the guests which is a shame.
Restaurants we would recommend are:
De Zevende Hemel (ate there twice and staff/food excellent on both occasions)
't Nieuw Walnutje (the mussels served here were to die for!)
Food was okay at Vivaldi Tearoom but no atmosphere and poor customer service from the waiters.
The only reason we marked the overall rating as a 4 was that we had problems with the electricity in the bathroom which wasn't fixed as promptly as we would have liked (it took 24 hours to rectify) which meant having a shower in the dark which was a bit of a health and safety concern. However this hasn't put us off considering another stay at this excellent hotel. Hotel was also good for disabled guests with ramps and sufficient number of lifts to rooms.

Room Tip: If arriving by train this is one of the first quality hotels you will reach within a 10 minute walk...
