“Good hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2013

Very, very clean rooms,I was impressed.Staff extremely helpful and friendly, very good choice for breakfast, but wish they had a restaurant for at least light meals and snacks.I was travelling on my own,and the first night got lost finding my way back.No problem after that, but do make sure that you know your way around. There was hardly anyone around to help, minimal lighting along the side streets, and the dark, turreted skyline was quite spooky, very appropriate just before Halloween ! I absolutely loved Bruges though, just like a fairytale.Wonderful patisserie and tea rooms opposite,Carpe Diem.Bought myself a cream cake,it was beautifully boxed up,and I took it back to the hotel and made myself a cup of tea. As has been said here, best to take some tea bags with you.

Room Tip: Top floor where I was, very dark because of gabled roof.

My sister and I travelled to Bruges on October 13th with Riviera Travel and made the excellent choice of the Hotel Academie
The location was perfect just a short walk to the main square and canals
Lovely restaurants and the beautiful lake called Minnewater were a few minutes walk away.
The staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble
The rooms were modern and very clean. The breakfasts were varied and plentiful.
We had a fabulous short break in Bruges and would definitely return to the Hotel Academie

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the internal courtyard are quiet

Hotel is in a good location, just a short walk to the centre of Bruges. There are plenty of nice places nearby to eat and drink after a day walking the cobbled streets. The staff were very helpful and friendly and helped recommend good places to eat and assisted with making reservations if required. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was very good with plenty of choices. Would stay here again.

Good hotel in great location. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The bedroom is is a bit dark, but the bed was comfortable. For a four star hotel we expected more than one teabag or coffe each. It was also a little strange to see the light switches with lights on in the dark. A little offputting if wake you up in the night. My solution was to hang my coat on the hook above above the switches. presto total darkness. My only other comment is that it would have been nice if the hotel had a restaurant, especially on the first night when you arrive a little jaded from the journey Overall a decent hotel.

Room Tip: A request for a quiet room is just that, a request. We had room 202 which is on the front. the only...

Staff were friendly and helpful without being overbearing.Breakfast was full of variety. The beds were so comfortable it was unreal! The bar is very pleasant and not overpriced. The bathroom was clean and looked as if it had just been refurbished ,lovely tiles and great shower ,our room was at the front and on the main road but it was not noisy and we had a lovely view over the rooftops. Also the Hotel is quite central which is convenient for sightseeing.

Room Tip: Rooms on top floor(2nd)at front of hotel have a good view.(room203 in our case)

Clean and well presented hotel, remember if staying here, they only you only get enough for one drink each so remember to pack the teabags. the room was clean and well presented although the beds did queek a bit, breakfast time you had a lovely selection of fresh rolls and pastries. Cleaners were very thorough when doing the rooms, bathroom especially so.
The hotel is well situated, although we did manage to get lost a couple of times.
A must visit place for a snack or evening meal is just down the road, (Frituur) it is run by a lovely gentleman who cooks all his meals fresh, so if you dont mind a wait whilst he cooks it, you will thoroughly enjoy the experience.
