My boyfriend & I were visiting Bruges for the weekend and after looking around at lots of different hotels we were both so pleased that we chose Academie Hotel after a fantastic stay and at very reasonable price!

The hotel is located in the heart of Bruges with Minnewater park just left of the hotel and the Grote Markt a 5 minute walk away (with lots of chocolate shops along the way!). With having such an ideal location it meant we could easily visit all the main landmarks / attractions within the time we were there - all by foot. You can also take a tour by the horse and carts which pass by the front entrance of the hotel if you wanted to.

Our room was in the corner on the second floor with a view of the courtyard which was lovely. We were extremely impressed with the size of the room - I had read a couple of reviews which mentioned how small the rooms were but this wasn't the case for us! We also had a large bathroom with a really lovely bath which we were thankful for after walking around all day.

The room was extremely clean, contemporary and with all the standard amenities you could need for your stay (coffee/tea/kettle, safe, air con, tv etc). The bed was also ridiculously comfortable and spacious - perfect! The room was also very quiet - we couldn't hear a thing which was surprising considering the minute you walk out the front of the hotel you can hear the clip clop of the horse & carts and chatter from the restaurants nearby and the church bells!

The hotel receptionist was very friendly & helpful - we arrived half an hour before check-in so she kindly gave us a map and pointed out the main areas to visit. We were then seated and she came to collect us when our room was ready after about 5minutes.

All in all a really wonderful stay in Academie Hotel and I would 100% recommend it to anyone whether you are coming for a short or long stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a bath!

Stayed here for three nights as part of a organised tour. We had a room adapted for the disabled and consequently there was plenty of space. We had no complaints, everything was as it should be in a quality hotel. The decor was not to my liking but having been to Belgium before I know that hotels tend to use dark colours. The other point is that it does not have a restaurant but provides an excellent multi-choice breakfast down in the basement.
If you like steak I can recommend the small corner restaurant only 30 or so yards further down Wijngaardstraat called the De Wijngaert. The steak is grilled in front of you and mine was the best that i have had since I was in the USA in the 1990s. The fact that it is frequented by locals speaks for it's self.

A lovely hotel in a lovely quiet area about 5 mins walk to the market square. So location ideal, we spent 3 nights here, the hotel ticked all my boxes, large rooms, nice beds and large bathrooms. Breakfast was outstanding, plenty of choice, reception staff were always friendly and helpful, no complaints at all, and it is a perfect hotel for a beautiful place for a wekend break.

Stayed here for 2 days and can't fault it. Lovely rooms and the staff are very helpful. The location is very handy a short walk from the center of Bruges and just next to a lovely lake and park. The hotel was very easy to drive to and has plenty of parking spaces, worth checking out google maps before leaving and figuring out the route as there seemed to be a lot of people driving in circles looking lost.
The staff were very helpful and it has a lovely bar and courtyard where you will find drinks are cheaper than most bars. Speaking of boozing if you fancy a drink in a unique setting there's an antiques shop opposite the hotel which on a weekend evening turns into a bar where you can sit and listen to live music while perusing their antiques.

We were pleasantly surprised by this charming hotel in Bruges. The façade is rather simple, but the hotel is charming and the staff very helpful and friendly. The rooms are comfortable and the breakfast is one of the best we've ever had for a boutique hotel like this.
