We found the Hotel Academie to be very welcoming, attractive and quiet. It was a hotel that was easy to relax in. Staff were most helpful and the rooms had all the facilities you would expect in a modern hotel. A degree in electronics is required however to figure out how the room light switches work. The provision of a room safe gave a sense of security when leaving valuables.
Breakfast is a buffet affair so you can fill yourself up and go about your days affairs without feeling hungry.
Hotel Academie has a four star rating and we really enjoyed our stay but one or two facilities whilst ok had a slightly tired feeling about them - we would say that a four star rating is just about deserved.

Fantastic location (quiet) very close to main historic centre of Bruges. Clean, comfortable room overlooking courtyard garden (Room 116). However although it does have tea and coffee making faciities, (room has fridge) you will have to buy your own milk; has horrible plastic cups, but I guess that's me being picky. Rooms have digital lighting (very irritating) which is somewhat confounding and only really mastered just as your about to leave!! Hotel is undergoing refurbishment so our TV was very poor (not LCD). Most staff pleasant. Has cosy bar but no restaurant for evening meal. Breakfast disappointing for a 4 star hotel, all self-service. Scrambled eggs/baked beans barely tepid in temperature. Didn't appear to have any fresh fruit and only processed cheeses. There are only small teaplates for your food, expected more from a 4 star hotel. Biggest thing in its favour is its location, which is why on balance I would recommend.

We stayed only one night 24th April 2010 and we wished that we had stayed longer. The location was fantastic and our bedroom was large, clean and welcoming. The buffet breakfast was good value at EUR9 and plentiful. The car park (EUR15) was very secure for our motorbike. We are hard to please but this hotel was faultless in the mid-range price category. The staff on reception, when we booked out, deserve special mention but all staff were good.

In a nutshell, this hotel has a fantastic location coupled with a poor room and awful bed.

Firstly the good stuff. The hotel is located 15 minutes walk from Markt and Burg squares. The underground car park is a great idea but 15 euros per night is too much, especially when the huge station car park is around 10 minutes walk away for 2.50 euros per day.

Now onto the bad. The walls were so thin you could hear the people next door brushing their teeth. Now, brushing teeth is fine, however, in the morning, they were being sick which is a lovely sound to wake up to!

The bed was far too soft and unsupportive. My other half and I kept rolling into one-another. We both agreed that we hadn't slept so poorly in years.

Would I stay here again, no way. Over-priced, even for the location.

Stayed for two nights, found the staff really helpful especially as I could 'nt find the car park when we first arrived.Gave us a map of the city and a discount voucher for some attractions and pointed out some nice bars and restaurants. Rooms look like they have been decorated recently ( within the last year or two), very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast is self service had a little of eveything, don't expect a full english.
Hotel located in a nice street with restaurants and the lake of love, as they call it, at one end. Ideal location , time to the city centre is about ten minutes walking and goes past lots of chocolate shops.

We spent the w-end of st valentin, located very good but it is the only good thing, parking too expensive (15E/night), breakfast very cheap (fruits = apples nothing else, tea bags cheap), in the room, blanket over the bed stained, we don't recomand, we wonder how this hotel got the 4 stars? we said it to the young girl at the recption (she was very nice and obviously not responsible), she said it is not a **** luxus but budget..... no comment, we will go again to Bruges becaus it is a lovely town, there is so much to see and liv, but we change the hotel!!!

Convenient for sightseeing. Bedroom nice and there was a BATH in the en-suite which was nice to find in a city hotel. Bathroom was spotlessly clean. Breakfast adequate though tinned fruit was a disappointment. Nice selection of breads and rolls, all very fresh. Choice of friut juice was good for me as hotels often only offer orange. Staaff on reception were lovely, very friendly and full of information. The walking tour advertised at reception was great. Would recommend this hotel.
