“Dead heat for which is the best, Bruges or the Adornes!”
Reviewed 5 October 2011

We visited Bruges in August 11 and it lived up to its reputation, beautiful, quaint, historic ... all these things. The Hotel Adornes was perfect for what we wanted .... good price, quiet and comfortable, good advice given on where to go and what to see, great location with a view over the canal, etc, etc.

Just a quick trip across town from the railway station by taxi the Adornes met all our expectations. Our hosts were great with their introductions / check in process with plenty (perhaps too much to absorb at one time) of advice on where to go, where to eat, etc. Went to a couple of the places recommended at they were terrific.

The room was very good, small but comfortable, bathroom spacious and clean. As usual throughout europe there is no coffee making facilities or a fridge. However, they were only to pleased to send up a pot of tea or coffee. Breakfasts were substantial and even when we had an early departure they were happy to provide us with something before the dining room opened. Free WiFi in the lobby / lounge area was available.

Would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: Try and get the rooms looking over the canal. The road is quiet.

We stayed at the Hotel Adornes September 11-14, 2011, based upon Rick Steves' and numerous TripAdvisor recommendations. The hotel location was excellent for our interests, with a very easy walk to the Market Square and to the Minnewater. The gentleman who checked us in upon our arrival was extremely helpful with sightseeing and restaurant recommendations and was obviously very passionate about his city. The staff provided a room upgrade without charge and was very helpful and friendly during our three night stay. Upon arrival at the train station, the easiest and most direct and route to the hotel is via taxi. The 10 minute ride cost us 8.50 euro without the hassle of waiting for a crowded bus.

Room Tip: Rooms along the Carmersstraat can be a little noisy.

We booked via booking.com 3pm that same afternoon. The ferry ran late - and we were contacted as we drove up from Calais to Bruges (approx.75 mins) by the proprietor to check we were still coming and advise that reception could be closed after 10pm. We found the hotel at 1020pm and had to queue to check in!
The chap brought my wife up tea and coffee facilities at her request (€6 euros, bit cheeky) but the room was delightful.
Moreover awaking the following morning, the breakfast - in particular the rolls and breads selection - was really good.
And we then discovered that we could leave our car in the underground car park until around 4pm that day - and enjoy our stroll around Bruges (in the rain) at leisure. Walking in from the North East gave us a new perspective on the city we have visited before - and brought several delightful bars, shops and cratfsmen to our attention. Highly recommended - although not the cheapest offering in the city - nevertheless my favourite (of 3) to date.
No major issues.

Room Tip: try staying in this NE corner of the city centre - rather than nearer the central square - as it is...

The staff is exceptionnally friendly and helpful. They have a daily list of activities and are ready to make any bookings necessary The breakfast room has a working fireplace and the buffet is more than generous Freshly cut fruits, local cheeses and coldcuts, all types of cereals, juices, milk, eggs were plentiful on the buffet table. They also offer soja milk!
Bikes are free as well as parking. The rooms are clean and well kept.
If you do go there, be sure to say hello to Arthur.
We strongly recommend the Adornes Hotel which will make your stay memorable.

Stayed at this hotel with a while tour group of 20 people. Very nice hotel, good location, surprisingly large size rooms for Europe, very modern wifi is free and works in most areas if hotel.

Service was excellent, very friendly and service oriented people. Has laundromat in house an also a very karge and nice breakfast area. The hotel is in a scenic location very close to the Jan Eyec statue an walking distance to the main square.

Many nice restaurants and bars very close by. Views over looking the canal are very pretty.

Never ever written anything on trip advisor, but this hotel is worth a thank you. Lovely location overlooking a canal, really friendly and helpful staff, excellant buffet style but quality breakfast. Free secure parking nearby if you book in advance (watch out for the hotels which sting you extra) and the free bikes really were an asset. Clean & high standard rooms. Also just round the corner is a lovely old pub with good food and beer.

In August we stayed at The Adornes for the 5th time! Have been three times at Christmas and this made twice in the summer. This time it was for 5 nights. Brugge is fantastic and this hotel makes the trip even better! The hotel is everything that we need and offers free use of bikes (allowing guests to tour Brugge and surrounding areas), free underground car parking, free Wi-Fi and of course a fantastic continental breakfast that sets you up for the day. The hotel is superbly located 10 minutes from the market square and city centre, making site seeing an ease and being on the canal gives nice views from the hotel rooms. The hotel staff are fantastic; they are so friendly, have brilliant knowledge of the local area and they cannot do enough for you! The rooms are extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean as is the rest of the hotel. Would recommend this hotel to anybody!
