Our visit to Brugges was the last stop for us before returning to the UK from Switzerland. I had not been there since a small child, and we were both looking forward to this visit.

The hotel is in a brilliant position and pretty well everywhere central can be reached by foot, although there is a mini bus tour, and also one by horse and cart.

Our room was small it has to be said, but more than adequate for our brief stay. An excellent fitted bathroom with toiletries provided. The reception closes at 8pm but your door key unlocks the main door. Danni and Rueben were very friendly and enormously helpful, our sincere thanks to them both. We would definately return to this hotel. It is true that the parking is a short distance from the hotel, but Danni gave us very clear and accurate directions, so this did not cause us a problem at all, especially as you can park outside to load/unload your luggage.

The hotel Biskajer is in a great location a couple of minutes’ walk north of Markt and central Bruges. It is easy to get to from the station, take bus 4 or 14 and it drops you off at Jan van Eyckplein which is just next to the hotel. The hotel itself is very clean and has loads of character with wood panelling, beams etc.

Our room was comfortable and of adequate size. In the room was a large bed, old style TV (some channels had programmes in English), safe, desk and a couple of easy chairs. The wifi signal was strong and steady. There was no aircon but opening a window kept us cool enough. There was a bit of noise from the small square in front of the hotel from time to time but it didn’t stop us from getting a good night’s sleep. In the bathroom there was a large, deep bath and a shower. The room was kept very clean and tidy and we liked the towel sculptures that greeted us each day when we returned to our room.

Breakfast was continental style and the food was tasty, fresh and of good quality. There was always plenty to eat and it was a great start to the day.

The hotel owners, Dany and Ruben, were tremendous. They are really polite, helpful and charming with a good sense of humour. At check-in we were given maps and tips on what was on in Bruges, also information about local attractions etc. The guys were always ready to offer good advice when we needed it and their consideration for their guests added to the enjoyment of our visit.

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Biskajer and would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is very clean and safe, the receptionist was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was tasty (although no hot food). The beds were comfy, and the rooms weren't cramped. The hotel is in a great location, a short walk from the Burg and Markt squares and right next to the chocolate museum!
There is no car parking facilities at the hotel so it is advised to use one of Bruges' underground car parks.

As a family party of 8, age range 27-82, we spent 1st - 3rd July (Mon - Weds) with Dany and Ruben at Biskajer, having known the hotel under previous management. It remains a wonderful and convenient spot from which to explore Bruges and, indeed, has even improved. Nestled in a courtyard/square around the corner from the famous Bruges bear and a canal, it is close to everything. Breakfast and its replenishment (cold meat, cheese, fresh fruit salad, fruit yoghurt etc) was perfect. Peaceful. Advice freely and accurately given re restaurants etc. Bar (Strafe Hendriks) already good and will be refurbished soon. A kettle + coffee in room would make it even better. Rooms were stylish and comfortable. Good lift but needed as stairs quite tight for elderly. Returning ASAP!

Room Tip: Room 301 for a couple ; unless you need a shower clipped to wall above the bath.

There is a saying it does what it says on the Tin. Well that’s exactly what you get if you book this hotel; while it may lack a swimming pool and a late night bar it is far from basic and was every thing we needed “A good fair priced hotel

So what did we seek and need from our “A good fair priced hotel” for this 4 day trip to Bruges: The hotel is certainly centrally located the décor traditional and clean throughout not just the front reception but into the bedroom, breakfast room and other facilities. The bedroom and bathroom fully meet our needs and each night we sleep well, which is not always the case when we travel. There is however, no tea/coffee making facilities or English TV channels available in room if such is a must for you. The continental breakfast was fresh every day as was the bread and offered a good selection of everything from a buffet table that was constantly topped up, as was the coffee and a selection of good.

I can not close by saying a big thanks to the helpful and friendly staff whose English put me to shame as I could not speak any Flemish. In fact they set the tone before we arrived with a simple swift email reply giving accurate option on how to get from the train station to the hotel. Such was the friendly attentive level of service which continued right through our stay with suggestion on where to go where to eat and lots more.

In short helpful staff, excellent service and a fine hotel at a fair price; which I am pleased to recommend.

Great location only a very short walk from the Market Square and 20 yards from the Chocolate factory, Room was comfortable and breakfast fine. Staff were excellent and extremely helpful. Perfect spot to explore Bruges by foot or bicycle. It's not 5 star but doesn't claim to be.

My husband and I visited hotel Biskajer July 2013, for a quick 2 night bday trip. Pros for hotel Biskajer include the size of the room and bathroom, it was much bigger then we are used to traveling in Europe. The location is great, just outside the main center square and breakfast was nice and the mattress was comfy. Cons for the hotel are it was extremely noisy in the mornings, if you want to sleep in past 0800 this is not the place to stay. Also the walls are very thin but the biggest con for us was the parking. There is no parking close to the hotel and the closest parking garage was full, we ended up having to park a good 15 minutes walk away from the hotel. So I highly recommend dropping off your bags and checking in prior to finding parking. Also, we stayed there Sat-Mon and when I asked if anything was open on Sun I was told that nothing is really open, however almost everything was open on Sunday. It was a great surprise but I was a bit thrown off and wouldn't have tried to get so much in on Saturday if I was told from the start that I'd be able to visit all the great tourist/chocolate shops on Sunday. Overall knowing what we know now we would stay again because the room was very nice and the price was great compared to the other hotels nearby.
