“Lovely hotel with very friendly staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 September 2013

We stayed here for two nights in September 2013. We were looking for a hotel which was near the town centre but still in a quiet spot in Bruges. We found this hotel and booked it for a midweek citytrip.

We arrived by train and then took the bus to the hotel. The busstop is just around the corner on the Jan Van Eyckplein. We were welcomed by a very friendly young man who checked us in with no hurry at all even while there was another couple behind us. He took the time to explain the history of the location, where the name came from and what kind of place this particular spot in Bruges was in the Golden Era. He gave us tips on sightseeing, attractions and which to avoid. He explained how the hotel works, gave us a map where he pointed out the most famous attractions and offered us help when we needed to find a particular restaurant / attraction.

We had room 102 which had a nice view on the front square. It was big enough for the two of us with a great bed which was comfy and gave us no trouble on sleeping, a shower/tub combination, toilet, sink, small tv (which we didn't use), telephone and two built-in large closets.

The front doors of the hotel close at 20:00 / 8 pm but can be opened with your own room key.

Breakfast was being served as a buffet in a room next to the reception and bar-area. It is a small room but large enough to house most of the guests at the same time. On our trip, the hotel was fully booked but we didn't have any problems of finding a table to sit. The buffet was being refilled regularly and the host came to ask if you want some coffee or tea.

On checking out he helped us by finding the best way back to the station (walking would cost you twenty minutes, which I don't mind, but with a suitcase on those roads it can be a pain). We could take a bus on the Jan van Eyckplein but with a change of busses somewhere. On the Markt hower we could take bus 2 which brought us directly to the station.

When we return to Bruges we will definitely book this hotel again.

Room Tip: 102. Just floor above the reception and a nice view on the front square.

We stayed here for two nights, the hotel is located 5 minutes walk from the main market in a small quite square, it is a 20 minute walk from the station, but there are plenty of buses.
We had a very friendly and helpful welcome. The room was perfect for us, ensuite shower, bath & toilet and comfy bed. We found the hotel very quiet at night and we both slept very well.
The breakfast was very good, but you still can't beat a full english breakfast in the morning.
The only thing I missed was there was know coffee/tea making facilities in the bedroom.
Overall this is a perfect hotel for visiting Bruges, and we will certainly be booking this hotel when we go back.

Lovely owners, very friendly and helpful, breakfast was fine. Great location in a quiet pocket of Bruges, but still very close to the main square. Rooms were lovely and spacious and we would stay here again!

We just spent 4 nights at this lovely hotel and from the moment we walked through the door it could not have been better. We were welcomed with a warm smile from the owners who's english was perfect and gave us lots of helpful information about the local attractions and places to eat and places to avoid.
Our room on the first floor overlooked a side roof and a couple of distant small windows so if you were looking for a view then this room wouldn't be the one for you. The room was a little dark but with beautiful wooden finish, lovely furniture and thick clean carpets and spotlessly clean. A very nice bathroom with an exceptionally deep bath. With toiletries, shoe shine kit, safe, hairdryer and tv we were very impressed. The bed (a double) was large and gently supporting and we found that the room was extreemly quiet at night. The clock in the square rang on 1/4 hour but stopped from 12am-8am but was quite pleasant and all part of the atmosphere. The hotel is 5 minutes from the main square and tucked away in a corner of a small square near the canal.
Breakfast was tasty with a good selection of continental meats, cheese, bread and pastries. Add to this fruit, cereals and yoghurt and it was more than enough to keep us going all day. On our return later in the day the room had always been cleaned, bins emptied, bed remade and towels changed even if we had not asked for them to be changed. Also every day there was a hand towel made into a different animal left on our bed. Very touching and a sweet gesture.
Overall we would rate this hotel 9.5 out of 10.
Our only disappointment was the lack of kettle in the room. We raised this with the owners at the end of our break and they explained that as the rooms had lots of wooden furniture they had found in the past that guests left wet cups on the furniture that caused damage. This we had noted on the coffee table in our room and fully understood what they meant. I would however in future if I stayed at this hotel bring my travel kettle as we found the local cafe's and eateries generally expensive and felt uncomfortable just trying to go into them just for tea or coffee in the evenings
Overall I would highly recommend this little hotel.

Room Tip: Room 104 is a small double and although has no view was very pleasant

Excellent weekend stay (our third), this time our second with a 93 year-old parent, near-blind and needing a wheelchair for the longer distances. The staff were kind and welcoming, and went out of their way to meet our requests (filling hot water bottles at all times of day, providing an early breakfast prior to our departure, bringing up a tray of afternoon tea plus an unsolicited Madeira cake ("You must have someting sweet with tea!")). Really convenient location, and wonder of wonders, they have installed mosquito-screens outside the windows, which had been the one downside of having a little tree-filled square in front of the building. We'll return. Thank you.

We stayed here for one night on our first trip to Bruges. It's Is centrally located with a restaurant next to it we did however had to wait until 10pm to check in as we had missed the deadline so we had to hang around a bit which interfered with our eating that night as its seems to be like France where they stop serving after 9 pm. However was a lovely quaint hotel with a nice bathroom although not a traditional shower and the water goes everywhere as no shower curtain. The car parking was also a problem the next day (very expensive in Bruges)

We love this rustic style all over the hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended. Do not miss the visit cards for restaurants in the reception, there are really good restaurants you can go. We will definitely go again in this hotel
