“A really pleasant hotel”
Reviewed 9 April 2014

We've just come back from Bruges, where we stayed for four nights in the delightful Biskajer Hotel. We felt at home from the start, welcomed by the calm host, Dani. He and Reuben run the hotel with style, kindly helping with any enquiry and offering suggestions for sightseeing or choice of restaurants. We had a beautifully clean, nicely furnished, ensuite room, in a quiet area of town, within 350 metres of the town hall. We shall be happy to recommend the Biskajer to our friends and relations, or anyone looking for a lovely place to stay in Bruges.

Room Tip: We were four couples and all were pleased with their rooms.

We booked this hotel for our first visit to Bruge to celebrate a friends 50th birthday, the hotel is situated a short walk from the hustle and bustle of the main square. Ideal siuation as very quiet area, hotel room was immaculately kept, staff very helpful and nothing was too much trouble even checking train times for us, breakfast was tasty and filling, very informative to local places of interest was provided as we set out on the first day to discover the beautiful city. Will definitely return and recommend.

We stayed in the standard class room in this hotel which is an easy stroll away from the main Markt square.

Room was very clean on arrival and this was maintained throughout our stay. It consisted of;
I) Bedroom with comfortable double bed with extra pillows if required, wardrobe with small safe within that is free to use, three chairs and a tv( no English speaking channels).
I) Bathroom, quite small with bath/shower, toilet, heated towel rail, small wash basin and hair dryer.

No air-conditioning so can imagine room will get very warm in summer months. Lift between floors which I would advise anyone with reduced mobility to use as stairs are very steep.

Continental breakfast served between 8am and 10am in ground floor dining room opposite Reception. Small bar next to dining room.

Dany and Ruben are very attentive hosts who operate the hotel themselves, they leave chocolates on your bed after cleaning room. They close Reception at 8pm so anyone planning to arrive after this time will need to contact them.

If arriving by train, taxi rank and bus station right outside railway station. Taxi to hotel cost us 10 euros whilst bus services 4 and14 run from station to bus stop at Jan Van Eyckplein ( just around corner from hotel), costs 2 euros and runs at 10 minute intervals during day.

Good base for exploring the beautiful city of Bruges.

My wife and I spent a couple of days in Bruges and were very pleased with our choice of hotel. The staff (who may have been the owners) were friendly, courteous and could not have been more helpful. They recommended an inexpensive restaurant where we were entitled to a free aperitif as we were staying at the hotel.
We had a room at the front overlooking the small square and had no problem with any noise mentioned by other reviewers. It may have been noisier at weekends I suppose.
The breakfast was very good, including the boiled eggs which you do yourself.
We will certainly stay here again if we return to Bruges

Chose this hotel for a short break for my husband's birthday based on previous reviews but was a little disappointed. The lift, if you need it, is tiny; our bathroom was so small that you had to sit on the toilet sideways as there was no room for your feet! Continuing the theme, the shower was also small enough that you were either touching the taps or the curtain at any one time (and we're not big people!). The guy on reception was pleasant though not much help when we arrived and needed a bureau de change - no such facility at the hotel and nowhere else open! Be aware it is only a cold continental breakfast, which is ok, again, quite average and not a huge selection. The room could do with a mirror and tea/coffee facilities. On the plus side it is only a five minute walk to the centre and is in a quiet area. Would stay elsewhere if we returned to Bruges.

We stayed at this hotel for my birthday weekend. Warm welcome from Ruben on reception who gave us a map of the city. Our room was on the 3rd floor, clean with a large comfy bed. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the main square and all the attractions. Breakfast is continental style with a good selection of croissants, bread, cheese, meats and cereals. I would definitely stay at the Biskajer again, it is perfect for a weekend in Bruges.
