“Nice little hotel well located”
Reviewed 24 August 2012 via mobile

Stayed two nights and well suited to explore the city by foot. the bedroom was pleasant but found the cobble road outside was noisy during the night. Breakfast was ok and the hotel was pleasant enough. Easy parking at the rear and the receptionist was extremely helpful. Nice little pool, food was just ok.
Nice hotel and would stay again.

Perfect location just away from the centre but less than a 5 minute walk to the centre. It has a small swimming pool. Lovely sheltered courtyard. The Happy Hour is cheap for drinks and nice to come back to the quiet setting after a day out. The reception staff were really helpful and gave us train printouts and helped out with a car hire as well. Room was a reasonable size and the hotel is generally well decorated and maintained. The buffet breakfast was good and the dining area is nice with some of the tables having a really nice outlook onto the goldfish pond /area. I would go back to this hotel ;-). Nice area, nice street, just book it, no worries...

Stayed on a special, 3 nights for 2 inc Eurostar , great value for money. Breakfast lovely and front desk and waitresses so friendly. Room could have done with aircon, but it was a really hot week and a fan was provided. Would definately stay again and small and friendly enough to stay on your own.

Booked this via top secret hotels (lastminute.com) on a whim and couldn't have been happier with the result. We had a fantastically sized family room, bathroom was clean and functioning. Beds were comfy and loads of space for my two girls (9 & 11)

Staff were fantastic and great with the kids. Bar was great, Breakfast fantastic with plentiful choice. We swam both days which was a bonus as it was pretty hot during our stay.

The Flanders is in a great location, close to eveything but far enough away for a little peace and quiet, and has a decent boutique feel.

Only thing was the room would have been brilliant had it had the refurb of the other rooms (but i guess this is ongoing!!).... just me being a travel snob

On arrival no one to help with bags, rude staff and we were shown our room. That night we felt a bit cold and were unable to turn off the air con in the room. Requesting assistance we were advised that it was not possible to adjust of stop the air con. We were offered another room but it wasn't very nice. The breakfast was fine but I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. Very basic and daft to have air con running in Oct.

Thank you again for having stayed with us last autumn and for still taking the trouble of providing feedback. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience you may have encountered and are pleased you found the breakfast to be satisfactory. Though this review is entitled 'noisy accommodation', it is unfortunately unclear to us what precisely is meant here.

The desirability of year-round air-conditioning greatly varies around the world, sometimes regardless of outside temperatures and visitors to Bruges really do come from every corner of the globe. This doesn't mean that this in-room facility is 'uncontrollable' and unless there was some sort of temporary defect, which we by now are unfortunately no longer able to verify, there is no reason why you should have experienced this. Though all our rooms are generally of approximately the same standard, we regret that you found the alternative room offered to be less pleasant.

Upon request, our staff are more than happy to provide guests with luggage porter service and we would very much like to welcome you back at some point in the not too distant future, to show you that we really have a very happy, friendly guest services team, as is generally reflected by the vast majority of reviews.

We booked the suite of the Flanders Hotel (room 104), as mentioned on their website "The bathroom has a king sized bath and separate luxury shower." This is nothing short of a lie: the bath is even really small sized and the shower is rickety! The WC has no toiletbrush and overall there was no attention to details.
As we arrived for check-in (on time), we had to wait in the hotel lobby for half an hour because the room wasn't ready yet, which is horrible when you are in a beautiful city as Bruges.
The breakfast was fine, the location is good. But the suite of the Flanders Hotel is in desperate need of a make-over!
As we left the hotel no one asked us how our stay had been, very unprofessional attitude of the reception staff.

We would like to thank all reviewers for their many compliments and any constructive criticisms made.

In this instance, we would like to apologise for not having enquired after the overall satisfaction on departure, which is by all means standard practice, thank you for your feedback by means of this review

These are images of the room and bathroom concerned: http://imgur.com/a/RCAv4 and he points raised do leave us a little confused, as there is by all means a separate, spacious walk-in shower (not a cabin, it is found just to the right of what can be seen on the photo) and the bath is nearly 20cm wider and 25cm longer than a standard 170cm model. We are unsure of what could be 'rickety' about the shower and would welcome more precise feedback on this.

Finally, your room did indeed become available 22min later than is the intention (check-in from 14:00hrs). We are often able to accommodate check-ins as early as 11 or 12, however in this instance, due some unforeseeable circumstances, it took that little longer. We hoped to have remedied this by the late check-out on your day of departure. If you were to contact us in the future and re-book, mentioning your previous stay, we will most certainly demonstrate that we get it right, nearly all of the time.

Thank you again for your stay with us.
