Had two day trip and have to say no complaints about this hotel. They have a mixture of rooms and we had a cheaper smaller room, however it was very well equipped, so no complaints. The hotel has lots of character and would stay there again as nice and close to centre.

Room Tip: you can pay extra for a larger room but not sure it's worth it

This hotel is only a two minute walk from the main tourist area but is lovely and quiet at night so you do not get disturbed by any noise.

We stayed in room 23 (Garden Duchess Suite) and it was lovely. Had a downstairs seating area and a lovely four poster bed upstairs. The bathroom was great and had the option of both a bath and shower.

Breakfast was great, staff were helpful and friendly and this was the ideal base to explore Bruges. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

This hotel is a great place to base you vacation / business in Bruges. No more than 90 seconds walk from the Vismarkt and then a futhre 90 seconds and you in Burg/Markt. Absolutely brilliant for my wife and I for a birthday / anniversary visit to a UNESCO World heritage site.

Bearing in mind you are in the centre of history the prices of the hotel are more than reasonable. All the staff had fantastic English and were well informed about Bruges and it's attractions. The breakfast was great and a brilliant start to the day with fresh and wholesome food.

I cannot thank the staff of Jan Brito enough for making our short break memorable.

Room Tip: We had a Knight room, which was perfect for what we wanted, which was on the third floor and faced t...

We stayed at the Jan Brito in the sunny March of 2012. We booked a Eurostar package.

Arriving on the Eurostar at Brussels (zuid/midi or central depending on your language) we went downstairs to the main departure area where we caught the IC train to Bruges (Eurostar tickets are not valid on Thalys or ICE trains). The final destination of our train was Knokke/Blankenberge (as the train divided at Bruges) and Bruges was the second station stop after Gent.
Our trains: Eurostar: London – Brussels platform 7: 10.57-14.05
IC train: Brussels – Bruges platform 15: 14.26-15.25

From outside Bruges station we turned left to the bus station, bought a ticket from the kiosk and caught the number 6 bus from stand no.1 to the Fish Market, then walked the few steps to the Hotek Jan Brito, which was sign posted and on the right.

The reception staff were lovely. We had room 29, a quirky room in an annexe to the main house, across a small courtyard. The room was clean, with a safe, hairdryer, toiletries and a mini bar and an iron on request. Not one of the luxury rooms, perhaps because it was part of a package but a great place to rest and a great location.

Breakfast was continental with hot scrambled and boiled eggs, sausages and bacon.

The one morning we decided to have a lie-in the hotel gardens were being maintained with noisy chainsaws etc but I imagine that was just bad luck.

We walked to all the tourist attractions from the hotel, it is close to the Belfry and on the right side of town for the windmills.

As we had an early start the morning of our departure we asked the hotel to book us a taxi to the station which cost just over €8. Our train to Brussels left from platform 9, and the Eurostar check-in is well sign-posted on the ground floor of Brussels Midi/Zuid station.

Enjoy Bruges!

Dear,

It's a pleasure to hear you've enjoyed Bruges.

We would like to apologize for disturbing your lie-in morning.
It was indeed bath, because our gardens only needs to be maintained 2 times a year with the bigger machineries.

Hope to welcome you again at our hotel,

Kind regards,

Betty Devos

We stayed in a baroness room. Compared to most bed I have experiences in Europe, this one was super. Very comfortable mattress and very lovely sleep. The hotel has a very rustic and cozy feel to it, lots of character, and also a lovely garden. There were no leaves out at this time of the year, but I can imagine it's even more beautiful in the summer months.
The bathroom was very large and spacious with an excellent shower.
Breakfast was a real treat. Buffet style with all the items you would expect for a delicious breakfast. I've been to some hotels that advertise breakfast as part of the deal, but I wouldn't exactly call them breakfasts. Jan Brito did not disappoint though, I left feeling very satisfied after breakfast. It's from 0800-1030 I believe.
There is an option for an early breakfast for a small charge, but it sounded like it would only be a half hour earlier.
The hotel a very short walk from the main square, some of the bars in the near area are charging 7-9 Euro's for a beer. If you see one of those, do avoid. You can get the same beers for less than half the price at other locations in the near vicinity.
The staff were helpful and pleasant, willing to assist with any inquires. I love the city of Brugge and would definitely consider returning to this hotel. A little on the pricey side though.

Room Tip: My room was next to a street, so could get a little noisy on occasion.

We stayed in the hotel for 6 days from 22nd March, we were on a trip to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary. The staff were excellent, our room was comfortable. Special mention must be made re the breakfast - a combination of Continental and full English! The fresh fruit was particularly welcome. The garden is a relaxing area where you can read a book or whatever.

The area near the hotel is very quiet. We enjoyed the walk to Bruges centre and were able to vary our route daily. Beware the bicycle - we have never seen so many bicycles before.

It was pleasing to see that Bruges had not been the subject of graffiti and the cobbled streets had not been subjected to discarded chewing gum. An additional bonus was that in the square you were, if eating a sandwich etc, not bothered by seagulls or pigeons!

We stayed at Hotel Jan Brito for just one night and found it to be a lovely hotel in a great location. The building and rooms exhude a lot of character, and the staff were exceptionally helpful and polite. The hotel is located on a quiet side street, so you get a very peaceful nights sleep, but is still just a few minutes walk from the center of Bruges. I must mention the pillows, which were the softest I have ever experienced, it was like sleeping on a marshmallow!!There was a varied selection of foods for breakfast; everything I tasted from the selection was very nice. I really do not have a negative for this hotel and would certainly return.
